Deck Description

Alpo: recycled horse turned into dog food

This is an attempt to continue to abuse/play around with Phelia interactions, specifically to duplicate the Beanstalk model but without the musical fruits. To do that, we try out Roiling Dragonstorm.

What's the point you might ask? Well, first and foremost, it ups the slots in your deck that will immediately flip Tamiyo from 4 to 8, and it lines up perfectly for the turn 1 Tamiyo, turn 2 Dragonstorm, so you're on curve, get a clue, and start the countdown/material machine. Secondly, Dragonstorm gives you extremely useful hand sculpting, as you see 2 new cards and can bin a card you either don't need or that you want to bin, which moves you through your deck nicely and plays into the other mechanics extremely well. In particular, it helps you dump things to Tamiyo to recycle or Murktide to munch on, which is delightful. Thirdly, Murktide is a dragon, so playing him picks up Dragonstorms which is an all around win for this build. If you need material, you've got more. If you need Force fodder, you've got it for free. If you need hand sculpting, you've got it. And since you've got a fielded wincon by paying Murktide, you're playing protect the queen at that point, so you can afford to throw away material protecting Murktide with the backup of the extra material Dragonstorm gives you. Fourthly, flickering Dragonstorm with Phelia is ever so delicious for all the above reasons.

The rest of the build is just trying to take advantage of this mechanic and protect against interference turns 1 and 2, as you ideally want to cast Dragonstorm turn 2 if you can, so you need your free permission shields up and running in the meantime. Is it worth it to try running Beans without Beans? I don't know. Is it a fun idea to try? Hopefully.

Of note, some more Dragonstorm synergy is possible by running Clarion Conqueror in the sideboard, as it's a dragon so can recycle the Dragonstorm. But that's also a nonbo with your Tamiyo, so I'm not precisely certain if the juice is worth the squeeze. Particularly since it's a 3-drop and there's no acceleration in here. However, turn 2 Dragonstorm into turn 3 Conqueror is a pretty sweet line, so who knows.

Thoughts appreciated.
