Balanced Breakfast: playing around with Counterbalance as an inevitability engineCounterbalance works in legacy extremely well because of Brainstorm, Ponder, fetchlands, surveil lands, Mystic Sanctuary, and some tangential synergy. Fortunately, that tangential synergy also works extremely well in legacy.Tamiyo is a win condition (as long as you have a finisher), and combos with Brainstorm and Ponder about as well as anything can. St Katherine works off Miracles, which combos with all the things Counterbalance enjoys. Lorien Revealed and Sink into Stupor are CMC targets that cut down on the dead lands off the top for Counterbalance, so they work particularly well to up the math on catching some counters. Wrath of the Skies skips over flipped Tamiyo and works extremely well against 1-drops. Worst case scenario, it's not going to take out your finisher critters. Scrollrack combos with basically everything.Green in the mainboard opens up Prismatic Ending, spreads out the sideboard, and keeps opponent guessing about Veil of Summers.Sideboard is, as always, a work in progress. One thing I want to highlight is my attempt to abuse Pick Your Poison, which I think is a bit underutilized for what it can actually do. It takes out Urza's Saga, has a chance at taking care of the One Ring, snipes Tamiyo and Murktide, even picks off popular reanimate targets (although they do get to resolve).Thoughts appreciated.
