Yours is about 100% better than his. except i would run more land. Go to this site nd look at there lands. http://www.magic-league.com/decks/ they run mainly 22-27 lands so they can always function properly.

have you ever played speed? This deck is way to slow. If you want creature that wll help why dont you take out prodigal pyromancer, 2 act of treasons and chandra nalaar. and add in 3 cunning sparkmages and 2 basilisk collars. I would take out lavaflume invoker and it that betrays. I would add 4 valakuts the molten pinnacles. OR You can change it to r/g eldrazi and make it about 50% better. Listen here buddy, Blue is how this deck works. Look at the card Sovereigns of Lost Alara. This card allows you to get your conscription out on turn 6 without paying its mana cost. This deck is not based off mana ramp at all.
if there playing B/w control or U/b control you wont have any creatures to attack with.
hellspark is great cause at the beginning of the game most people don't have answers for him. And if you would play teetering peaks you could boost up your low fast attackers to be even stronger. I used to run devastating red and if you cant get it off without bushwacker its going to be a day of judgment or a path or a consume the meek and there gone. I would suggest taking out fireballs if you could get your hands on some banefires. If you want more better burn i would take out flame slash and out in stagger shock.

Devastating summons really is no good without bushwacker. To make it faster i would add hellspark elemental.
Because i do not want land to come in tapped. this deck is about speed i would run 4 verdant catacombs but im letting my friend use them.

landfall for bloodghast and too shorten the amount of lands in his deck. Most vamp decks i see run 4 marsh flats and 4 verdant catacombs.
Play some fetch lands to cut down on lands.
Having those fetch lands allow me to get rid of lands faster from my deck and allow me to draw more of what i need than land.

so even if you would cancel bloodbraid the cascade would still go ok. makes more sense why there is double negative. i started playing when zendikar came out. Ive seen people who run it but never seen it used properly.
I dont understand the point of double negative. people run it all the time in grixis but cancel is just the same thing. Cause if someone cast lightning bolt you cast double negative cause its all you have then they can cast another spell, you dont have to cast both spells at the same time. I guess i dont see double negative good cause ive never seen a good reason to use it.
I would suggest having more cards that give you life gain. i would run 4 survival cache maybe 2 land rituals and only running 17 lands is going to be hard to considering with pilgrims eye you have 19 ways to get land. i would probably run 4 rest of the weary and 3 kabira crossroads and i cant remember the name of the land but i think its if you have 6 or 7 or more lands you get a creature out of your graveyard and put it into the battlefield. I am guessing the reason is because you only have 48 cards in the deck?
