Put in Melira. Infinite persist FTW!
Melira doesn't work that way, "Creatures you control can't have -1/-1 counters placed on them." Persisting creatures come into play with the counters on them.
However Juniper Order Ranger does that perfectly

"Placed" carries double duty, meaning adding counters while an object is on the battlefield and also having an object entering the battlefield with counters."

Nice Persist, but you really should throw in Melira. I do absolutely love Oversoul of Dusk (none of my friends do haha), I wish I owned more than one!
