Deck Description

This isbmy take of Temur Control. The deck design is based off of a shell derrived from both BU control and the recent success of Sultai Superfriends. Let me know what you guys think. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also some SB help could definitely be used.

Deck discussion for The Temur Control

Swansong would be nice in here, as soon as you activate Ugin or cast anger of the gods that 2/2 dies. Nice 1mana counter to make sure your planeswalkers get to the table.

Not a bad suggestion, id have to do some working of the cards but i agree that it fits. Plus the token is easily wiped out by AotG.
I was also considering on MB or SB Destructive Revelry x2 for ascendancy hate. Especially now with the temur ascendancy combo around.

I mean, it honestly seems like the green is only there for Kiora, which is a great card and all, but it just seems like you'd be better served with just U-R or American or something

It is there for a couple of reasons. The obvious one being kiora. The second one is satyr Wayfinder synergieses well with the deck not only with kiora's -1 but also as delve fuel for dig through time. It is the fastest way i know of getting the yard full and benefits this deck well.

If you look on tcgplayer youll see a sultai deck that just took first at an open using only 1 more green spell than this configuration, being garruk Garruk.

The final reason is temur charm. this is a very useful card and has a lot of advantages to it. you can pit fight your leviathan with their large threat. You can make a token deck null. And the extra counter spell is a big plus.

I understand, I'm just not a fan of throwing away cards that I can't get back. My Jeskai deck just hardcasts things to delve for Dig and it usually takes 1st of 2nd at the tournaments I go to

All a difference of play style. Most of the spells in here are 3/4 ofs so its unlikely youll hit everything. the leviathan is the true win con. Getting enough lands out is hard. With wayfinder+kiora/dig you can get enough lands and spells in hand quickly To compensate for the dump.

One card i do want to include is jace's ingenuity.

My Red+tcruise works the way youre describing. Uses low drops fetch lands and tormenting voice to fill for tcruise and rearm.

This is an interesting one. Its pretty brave to run 4 Anger of the Gods in the mainboard. I almost feel like with all the control decks being played right now, they're more likely to be dead cards than not. I also gotta ask about the Reality Shifts. I haven't really seen them played a whole lot yet, but I'd be interested to hear your opinion on then. I think the Satyr Wayfinders are a good decision to help fuel Dig Through Time for sure. The only other question I have is regarding the colors. I a Temur player myself, so I totally understand the devotion to the clan, but I think its worth considering what you're getting in these colors over something like Abzan or Sultai, which gives you access to much more powerful removal options like Hero's Downfall, Bile Blight, Murderous Cut, etc. Cool list and good luck!

The current meta that I play in runs a lot more token/aggro decks than the overall, hence the 4angers and 1 arcbond. mainboard. It is definitely something that I have thought about and will be one of the first cards i move around probably. I feel reality shift IS what makes temur a viable control deck now. Before just looking at the cards i never saw any worthwhile spot removal in RBG. 2cmc exile ANY creature is pretty damn efficient, even if you run the risk of giving them another body there is so much cheap and easy removal with the red. Its a little more combo-ey than the other control lists but its also a LOT more capable of doing burst damage than the other control lists And tbe mana ramp in it is pretty solid.

I have a BU control deck now qnd its fun but I have always been a green player. Just something about cheating the mana curve makes the game exciting. I have definitely considered other lists/clans, this is more of an experiment to play out on cockatrice. Just trying to get feedback from the comunity on how it looks.

One thought i had was swapping out lightning strike for magma jet. It seems like it pairs with the reality shift really well and the scry 2 is a huge bonus for a control deck. Anyone have any thoughts?

Magma jets is good but I find myself wishing for that extra point of damage more than I miss the scry when I run lightning strikes.

Yup i totally agree with that sentiment. That is exactly the reason i put in the lightning strikes to start. 3 damage is the common line of threat and I have other ways to deal with larger threats.

I'd agree with that. The ability to knock out Fleecemane Lions with a single card is too valuable to lose I think. Honestly if the 4 mainboard Angers work, Temur colors make plenty of sense for a control deck. It does seem a little draw dependent as far as making high-value plays, but I have no doubt that it could work.

How exactly does arcbond work? Wouldn't it take out your pla?

1

You use it on any target that is taking combat damage either my wayfinder or leviathan, or on their creature then as combat damage resolves you engage a wrath effect and wipe the board, more than likely not killing your PLA because it's defense is 7.

Or you can use it in tandom witn burn spells to engage a combo based wrath if you have no blockers.

So far in playtesting i am 2-1. Not a bad first run so far. Still need to get my 4th game in.

Just finished my first 4 matches running this build. I went 3-1, not a bad record but not as great as I'd hope. I lost the very first game playing this deck against a very interesting mardu control deck. The decks i played are as followed; mardu control (0-1), jeskai tokens (1-1), RG Zoo (2-1), (maybe devotion, but wasnt a huge play on nykthos), and finally abzan midrange (3-1).

Ill do another 4 now that i am warmed up and let you all know.

Ill post the results tomorrow. Been tinkering with a few cards main board and got a rough sb together.

MB i took out onr anger of the gods and added in one more fated conflagration. I had a really hard time with the big creatures in abzan and rg zoo and i think this should help.

Let me know if any of you guys have sb suggestions.

Took out 1 arcbond and 1 fated conflagration. Added 2 Ugin's Nexus.

Ugin's Nexus? That's one I never would have seen coming. Why the list change?

1

The change isnt finalized yet. After mentally going over the list a more consistent wrath effect was needed. Having to combo anger of the gods with burns is rather annoying. I feel the two nexus's plus ugins -× x2 should help even this out. I really loved arcbond bt i just dont feel it has a home here at the moment. Its a little awkward setting it up successfully. Basically the nexus's were thrown in for a smoother wrath effect which inherently saves lighyning strikes to be used elsewhere. No testing done yet.

Oh wow... when i updated this i must have been super tired or just not paying attention...

It is Perilous Vault x2 NOT ugins nexus.

My record under the correct list is:
3:1
2:1:1
4:0

I think this deck is a very viable option for a niche deck. I feel it could potentially take a tournament by surprise with its explosive potential. I really like the Crater's Claws x2 in the side board. Also i exchanged naturalize with return to earth for its flexibility.

atarka might be a better closer for you unless facing counter magic same mana cost as the ancient but atarka has flying and double strike and ugin is awesome but xenagos the reveler might do better here
