Deck Description

I wanted to build a Ninja tribal deck, just because I think Ninjas are cool, and I didn't want to use fairies. This is the deck I have after a few months of tweaking it on a very reasonable budget. I wanted it to be viable and strong, but it's ultimately built for cool flavor and fun.

I only used cards with art that I thought was acceptable for Ninjas to be hanging out with, and this lead to going for distortion strike rather than artful dodge, for example, with it's weird lizard creature and cobblestone.

This deck now has Jitte in it, just to try and keep it competitive with the strong modern decks.

How to Play

You want to get your "return to hand" and card drawing effects rolling with this deck and have a board with flying and exalted and then go into your stronger Ninjas.

I chose to focus on blue Ninjas rather than black Ninjas because I like their mechanics better. You have 12 one or zero drop creatures to ninjutsu off of- Duty Bound Dead gives your (mostly rather weak) ninjas a nice attack buff and provides a one drop regenerating blocker which is really only going to be done in a few clutch situations in late games, but it's all about the Exalted. Ornithopter is free and flying making it a great ninja enabler, and Wingcrafter can give your Ninjas flying for a one drop and becomes a flyer itself.

With so many cheap creatures that are rather weak you want to keep your opponents board clear of blockers and get your win condition out ASAP, which is typically to ninjutsu Higure, The Still Wind as a four drop and use him to draw Silent-Blade Oni to start hitting for 6 (or ideally more with Ronin Warclub and Exalted) and steal something strong that your opponent has been holding onto to cast for free, which is pretty awesome.

Regardless, the Ronin Warclubs and Quietus Spike seem cruical to this deck just to give the Ninjas enough power to actually kill someone. With Mistblade Shinobis out and distortion strike, and it's typically populated board, you can control creature decks and stabilize very well.

Countersquall and Go For The Throat are invaluable for obvious reasons and I think they are sweet Ninja cards.

This is not a min/max deck, but I have beaten a lot of people with it and I have a lot of fun playing it. It does what it does pretty consistently.
