Main Deck (60 cards)

Planeswalkers (2)

Enchantments (2)

Land (20)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

I'm Trying to make a shade deck that I can use for a modern multiplayer format. Any suggestions are appreciated.

How to Play

With this deck you want to get a shade out and a Crypt Ghast or Nirkana Revenant.
These synergize really well, if you tap a land for mana, you get multiple black mana and you can use this mana to turn that shade into a monster.

Deck discussion for Modern Shades

How about Bad Moon? Shades generally start off with low power and toughness, so Bad Moon should help a bit with that.

As for a choice of Shades, Slithering Shade is probably the best, imo, but I think Chilling Shade is pretty good too (just change your swamps to snow covered swamps).

Lastly, I'd like to suggest that you include a set of Wayfarers' Bauble. I use it in two of my mono black decks in Modern, and it helps a lot to pay for those really expensive cards.

Thanks for the suggestions! I would run chilling shades if crypt ghast and the other mana ramps worked on it, but only the swamps can make snow mana. I don't really think i would be able to attack with slithering shade much because it would require me to have no cards in hand. Those wayfarers' bauble though are great, they allow this deck to get more swamps on the field. I also like bad moon, I'm just not sure what to take out for it.

Might want to try to fill out the bottom of your mana curve. You're lacking one mana spells/creatures. I don't know if there are any shades that cost one mana, but there are a lot of great 1 drop black spells.
Despise/duress of you're looking for cheap.
Creature wise you could play one or two shadow alley denizens, they're good throughout the entire game so it's not a wasted drop, even though it's non-tribal.
Or, you could play Guul Draz Vampire. Same issue, but still, it becomes awesome late game
