Deck Description

This is part two of a four-part deck series centering on the four horsemen. I present to you: Famine.

The other two will be revealed shortly!

How to Play

Limit their lands and let them starve for mana.

The key to this deck is limited resources, though not right away. Control the early part of the game to get lands placed. Be patient; respond to their game with STP and mana leak. Throw out rhystic study, mundungu, and seizure on a creature of theirs- anything that makes them pay extra mana and slow down their game.

Then unleash once you have 5 lands out there. Drop limited resources, rain of tears a land of theirs, and place a land of your own. Next turn, drop all the enchant land cards, and they are now faced with a gruesome choice- playing spells costs them significant chunks of life. Capsize remaining threats and/or other lands with the buyback.

They will be stuck with unplayable cards in hand and you can pick away at them with creeping tar pit and viseling.

Deck discussion for The 4 Horsemen #2: Famine

black vise over viseling. Sinkhole over rain of tears (perhaps your aware but didn't because of cost...still thought I'd suggest it).

Originally didn't do black vise due to restriction and sinkhole due to price... but screw it, they're going in. Horsemen don't give a sh--!

Maybe add the rack as well. That way the handsize will bother them more as they can only be safe from the effects with three or four cards.

Btw you can capsize their land and play your own. This can lock them out of lands entirely.

Didn't specify that in description, but yeah. Completely nasty.

Type your deck name...Perfect card for a deck like this- I chose contaminated grounds over that so it could limit their mana use by changing the land to a swamp. However, it works great with decks that completely own the land burn tactic. Thanks for the ideas!

If you put in both you can enchant like all their lands and destroy the rest so they have to take damage to get mana. :)

Swap mana leak for counterspell? like the theme

Only reason mana leak instead of counterspell is that I'm running tri colored, so having a mono is nice, plus the limit on their mana with limited resources. I think i'd choose counterspell if it was u/w. Thanks!

To be honest, it seems overly complex and prone to be overrun by many other types of decks. I've built a similar deck, but focused totally on limiting their mana supply, unless they get damage, combined with some active damage dealing as well, perhaps you can steal some ideas from it?

Drain Power?

Yes! You have to put in drain power! and maybe raise contaminated ground to four so you can destroy all but like three of their lands and the rest are swamps and if they do draw a colorless card they lose 6 life! :)
