Deck discussion for Azorius Detain

The overall mana cost is very high, but i am not surprised with azurious.

how does that run? I tried my hand at azorius, not unlike what you have and it sucked. my buddy has an azorius that dominates. i guess i couldn't figure out the strategy of it. I absolutely love blue control, so I don't know.

There is a few ways I play this: either dropping the the two drops quickly and dint'ing opponents health gradually then detaining their defence when their health is low anyway or laying land and holding the creatures back until opponent lays one; this isn't a problem even if they lay a high creature as the low level Arresters etc can cause the creature to wait two turns before doing anything and then used as a chump to stop damage penetrating as they have done their job in detaining the creature whilst you lay something else. Originally this deck was very different in the sense that it's main job was to detain and slow down my opponents until and whilst I brought out Gideon, detaining opponents creatures whilst them still having mana to bring new creatures out; within two/three turns Gideon would be at a high enough level to do some damage through his second ability. Jace helps dumb their creatures due to knocking some power of them if they do manage a 'free' go. Azorius charm either gives my high Gideon lifelink or bounces opponents card. Voidwalk and Voidwielder are an almost inseparable combo bouncing back creatures left right and center. Yes it can be longer game, but not always the case depending on the luck of the hand. This is my main deck, I take it to FNM and it can compete with some of the best I've come up against. The only thing I am potentially looking at changing is adding some more Voidwielders/ Voidwalks and dropping the Azors Elocutors... What you running with if you like blue control? Cheers for the comment.

well i never use planeswalkers.
for blue i use ice cages, inactions, etc. unblockables and the ciphers and land denials, draw engines and scry. rarely do i use a mono blue but i have had some luck with it. blue with green or black is very complimentary especially for my style. deny opponents resources (bouncing, countering, cages), attack with cheap killers and either buff/cipher or evolve. never had luck with white in any mixture except with black (even then not so much). With white i have one or two good decks, it is one of those colors I have to run mono-ed.
One of the guys I play regularly has the elocuters and battlefield denial (no attacking at all) and counters direct damage and elocuters for the win. i hate that deck but its really cool.
I lack patience.
