Deck discussion for Return to Rakdos

Hrm...this deck is good, but personally, I'm not too sure I like Cackler being in there. I mean, yeah, it could be good, but I could see maybe Roustabout or Goblin Arsonist in there instead. Roustabout doesn't stay down and Arsonist deals damage to an opponent when he dies.

i agree but i like to keep it rakdos in theme plus he is like the little guy i can mad cap or chump block with if need be

You don't plan to unleash, huh?

I do agree with Soltur. Especially if you don't want to unleash the crackler, there is no reason to have him in there at all. He is only decent for aggressive matches imo.

this is a very well put together deck, I really like the choice of cards, although I think you should add rakdos, the defiler for more theme, but well done!

Or, since this is burn, Lord of Riots. I wouldn't personally put a Defiler in a deck that doesn't have very many Demons, but that's just me.

im just saying if i need a blocker i could not unleash it but its cood turn one 2/2

I do see your point, but it loses half of its use when its unleashed.

yeah but he is cool in the deck especially when you have promo and if i make him scary and have opponent waste elimination cards on him it will work but i will consider flailer

0
Posted 20 November 2013 at 18:59

Here's one thing you do with Flailer: Make HIM scary and use his sac ability. It'll damage your opponent like crazy. Pump 'im up and knock him down to knock an enemy down. That's if you just want to go deal as much damage as possible. Just swing with him first.

Yeah that's how my old one was but it didn't work because I didn't have most of the other cards I have now

I'd probably swap out Rakdos Cackler for Hellhole Flailer. Plus, Hellhole Flailer's still Rakdos :)

Your Blazing Specter is preventing you from having a modern legal deck, since it's a reprint with a border, though still not in a set as a reprint. I'd throw in a Lord of Riots, as the above have mentioned, or perhaps a Hellrider.

Another good card could be Purphoros, basically making all your spells do a bit more, and if you can cast a demigod, give you a giant beater. He is kinda iffy since he's not very useful beyond that.

If you want some serious buffs, I'd throw in an Ashenmoor liege or two. The lieges are killer, and he's one of the best because he is only cost four.

My personal addition would be two Rakdos, Lord and two Ashenmoors. Take what you will.

Best of Luck to You!!!

I would like to thank all of you for your comments and suggestions this deck has gone through so !any variations I would love to finish it

You have 18 lands which is fine except you have 4 and 5 drops with 18 lands your curve really needs to stop at 3.
With that said I would cut rakdos return (doing it for 1 is no fun and 2 is barely acceptable)
Demi god of revenge and blazing specter
Goblin guide should be in here as well as rift bolt an probably lava spike. This will help your curve and make your average kill time drop by close to a full turn

4 lava law reaches are also too much you really only want 1-2 because They come in tapped I would add whatever the red/black pain land is. (I'll probably find it's name later and comment again) but ideally you want to kill by turn 4-5

The lava claw I agree with but even if I rakdos's return for one I'm using more for the discard than the intimate damage

I understand. I'm just saying with 18 lands x will never be very large. At absolute most 2 normally 1 and for x of 1 it's just bad.

Oh I see you already replaced it.

Sulfurous springs is the pain land.
I really like everything except Demi-god of revenge on average based on your land count you can't cast him till turn 9-10 .
The way the math works out 18 land 60 cards in deck so chance per draw of a land 60/18
Then (60/18)x5(lands to cast demigod)=16.7777777 then you subtract 7 for your opening hand.
9.777 draw steps till cast on average.

Dude if you handle everything by math and averages you miss the point of the game. The point is to have fun and pull of an amazing play not everything is about competition and having the best deck its about being the best at playing under any circumstances I don't care about my land base to my highest drop this deck will win as long as I play it right

Lol I'm in college doing political statistics all day every day. It just carries over to magic. I play this game as mental exercise if you want to play it differently that's fine. I enjoy optimization in deck building my most fun is having deck building work out flawlessly. That's why I play the game at all.

But do feel free to build a deck that can do cool things, there is a certain allure there as welll

Look's pretty solid to me, if you want to keep the Cacklers, a nice card to pair them with is Lyzolda, she turns them pretty much into miniature Hellhole Flailers that also draw you a card when you sac them. I see where people think Rakdos would work in this, but his ability to cheapen your creatures won't entirely work, as it removes generic. So the most it'll do it make Hellhole 1 mana cheaper, still a 6/6 flying trample is nice, but you got the Demigods to kill players.
Also, have you thought about anything for the side board?

i have but nothing really necessary

0

Well, maybe think about putting in like Slaughter Party (I believe that's the name) Maybe cards like Volcanic Fallout to help give this deck ways to deal with token decks and hexproofs. A Pith needle or two.

0

well for tokens i could always use seismic stomp or rakdos charm

0
Posted 21 November 2013 at 02:57

those deal with both

0
Posted 21 November 2013 at 02:58

Well, Fallout can't be countered as well, so maybe still run like 2 in the sideboard, incase countering is going on alot.
Or even Damnation could have a spot here, just downright blow everything up.

thanks man those do fit right at home

0

I would still put in Slaughter Party, it can break combo decks, which can guarantee a win.

so can rakdos charm by either killing an unlimited wolves, rats, drake, demaon, etc or eliminationg a grave yard thats the beauty of instants and idt i have any of those

I would remove goblin granade and add fling. just a good card that works realy good with demigod of revenge. for the rest it is a realy nice deck.

0
Posted 21 November 2013 at 13:48

why would i fling a demi-got the goblin grenades are meant for either goblin guide or spike jester that deals alot more damage than swinging

0
Posted 21 November 2013 at 17:13

Because you can fling Demigod, play another, and then swing with both. Then your opponent has one turn to deal with two Demigods :P

1
Posted 21 November 2013 at 20:00

Then I'm holding onto a one drop for up to 6 turns and I can sac and 2\2 or a 3\1 without flying for less mama and still do the same amount of damage

0
Posted 21 November 2013 at 21:55

costs you more cards. if you had some more cards draw i would not have a problem with it.

0
Posted 22 November 2013 at 09:42

fling is stupid for this deck if im gonna have demigod die im gonna block something and take another creature down with it during an opponents turn
