Deck discussion for Faerie Chemistrickery

NIIIIICE! This would be pretty sick to play against.
Great deck bro.

Looks great one minor problem though assuming this is modern format your mana base is lacking you would want to add shock lands like Steam Vents. If you are going for modern format this deck isn't powerful enough. don't get me wrong it's a great deck but not tournament quality.

I understand that shock lands could be helpful, and if I wanted to enter this in a tourny it would be a good idea. But let's be honest here, the amount they would benefit my deck versus how much each one costs (12 - 15 bucks each) isn't worth it at all. This deck doesn't run mana filter problems so far as I've playtested it since a single cascade bluffs filters everything and only two spells in the deck are RR. I agree that steam vents would be helpful, but they're not worth the cost compared to the benefit. THanks for the suggestion though and leaving a comment!

Huh, nice deck. Not sure what it's supposed to do, but since you put in Thundermaw, I like it!

Yea, thundermaw is awesome. The way you play it is like any other control/aggro, except it has a few powerful combos as well. You sit back and counter or remove your opponents stuff while building up your fairies. Your fairies themselves are also used to help counter and control your opponent and serve as damage too since as flyers they are innately hard to block. Splinter Twin syncs with every single creature in some way and provides powerful effects I have listed in the description box. Thundermaw is there as a finishing move since he'll tap all your opponents flyers allowing you for a potential full swing with all your faeries. Cards like Electrickery and Earthquake will clear the board for you without hurting your own fragile faeries. Pretty much that's how it's supposed to work. Lots of ways to win and intended to be annoying and crafty (which fits the Faerie theme well). Thanks for visiting my page and leaving a comment!

Huh, not bad of a deck idea! People must really hate dealing wit not only control, but negating as well.

I dig it, it's pretty solid control, especially with a splinter twin, spellstutter combo. I understand the thundermaw, every deck needs a kill condition and that'd work.

Why no steam vents?

1

No steam vents to help keep costs down since they're usually between 13 and 15 a pop and the Thundermaws are almost 30 each as it is. Also, as far as money spent, I don't think they'd really make this deck much better as what I have already seems sufficient enough to filter the mana properly. Thanks for you suggestion though.

Also oona Queen of the fairies would be a nice addition to the deck as well

1
Posted 02 December 2012 at 04:05

In this case I'm going to disagree with you only because she's a lot of mana and a little slow as in I have to play her on my own turn. 95% of the cards here I can play during my opponents' turn leaving me with final decision and the best choices for control. Thundermaw and Splinter twin are the only two cards I play on my turn and both should lead me directly to a win. While Oona is a very powerful card, I just don't think she fits in this particular style of deck. Thanks for leaving a comment and suggestion though!

Wish I could help. I don't know that much outside of standard. Nice deck though. Cyclonic rift? Check out my deck. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=410623

You know, that's a good idea, however I'd also like to be able to return my own fairies back to avoid board wipes. I'll add it to the Sideboard. Thanks for leaving a suggestion!

Doesn't Cyclonic rift just return your opponents monsters to hand?

1
Posted 03 December 2012 at 19:20

It does, which is why I haven't put it in the main board since I like the versatility from Echoing truth for being able to return my own faeries if I need. However, it is technically another win condition which is why it makes the sideboard.

Nice deck. Oh and thank you for commenting on my deck. It's the first time I see a faerie theme deck. Just wondering something....
Oona gives shroud to all your faeries and shroud prevents them from being targeted by spell or abilities from your opponents as well as yours. No? Isn't that the difference between shroud and hexproof? If true, then I guess Slinter Twin wouldn't work on them?... I might be wrong.
Nevertheless, a very fine deck

1
Posted 03 December 2012 at 07:04

No you are correct. Shroud does prevent them from being targeted, which is why there are only three Scion of Oona. However, their purpose in addition to aggro is also control, so having them isn't bad since I can cast them to nullify removal spells on my own faeries. If my opponents let me keep my Scion of Oona's out long enough they'll find themselves dying sooner, so they usually target them first, which opens the way for my Splinter Twins. Yes they don't sync well, but the benefit of having them in is great enough to overlook that. THanks for leaving a comment.

Kiki-jiki could function as a second splinter twin for this deck
I'm also not sure chemisters trick is really a good card at all let alone here

0

I am a fan of Kiki-Jiki but I just don't feel he's a little to red intense for my comfort and splinter twin let's me win on turn 4 (turn 3 pestermite--> turn 4 splinter twin WIN). As far as chemisters trick I do think it is the weakest card in this deck but highly underestimated. Forcing your opponent to full swing with decreased power, if timed right, can be devastating. It's mostly there for multiplayer games since I do a lot of FFAs with my friends, but I am considering moving it to sideboard, what do you think?

1

Agree a out Kiki jiki being red intensive
I think of chemisters trick is just for FFA you could use jace AOT and get other upsides (like a body they have to swing at) but he's pricey as f#%^

This is an astounding deck. Just love it's control aspect while continuing to aggravate. Maybe remove a scion of oona and put another splinter twin in?

Sower of temptation would be fun during your opponent's combat phase...

They attack you, you steal one of their untapped creatures to block with, or just steal before they declare attackers in order to deter any attack

Your infinite faerie combo is very cool as well. A great deck! I don't think I've ever seen splinter twin before, such a cool card!

If you wouldn't mind, please check out and drop a comment or suggestion on one or two of my decks that have yet to make front page. :)

Unfortunately, Sower of Temptation does no have flash, otherwise that would be fun as well. It is a good card with Splinter Twin as well, but just a little too slow. I like the immense surprise factor this deck utilizes to keep my opponents guessing. However, I may open up two slots by moving Chemisters trick to the sideboard, so I'll keep them in mind.

It looks like a really cool deck, but if you're really looking for tribal interaction and lots of combos, I would suggest that you go with elves. If you want to you can check out my elf deck here... http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=410238 I would appreciate it, and you could get introduced to the awesome power of elves.

1

Elves are indeed cool, but that's not my style. I'm not really going for tribal interaction here, I'm going for an annoying and effective faerie deck that is fun to play with and against. Faeries offer an innate tribal control that syncs with a reactionary play style that I use that elves to me just don't offer, though they certainly are powerful.

Okay I'm good with that. I think that this is a great deck for control. And the flying is awesome too I always find it difficult to face a deck with lots of creatures with flying. I'm glad there are some people who find a connection with the cards when they play. That's always a good thing.

Could add bonfire of the damned to this deck since there isn't any real draw cards and it's miracle cost would let you do the same as earthquake, plus if they have flying it hits them too. Can you check out my latest and leave a comment? Thanks

Bonfire is a good idea. Not really sure though since I prefer the reliability of Earthquake. Plus bonfire is 30 bucks a pop and I don't like spending that kind of money when there is a cheaper equivalent. I'm not a money bags Mcspender player when it comes to deck building.

that is true, unfortunately at 3 cost and flash Scion of Oona tends to come out before Splinter twin, but otherwise you're right and it makes for a nice protector for my splinter faerie.

I do not claim this combo to be my own creation, but nor is this deck centered around it. It is merely one win condition that syncs well with the rest of the cards. A simple removal spell counters it so it is by no means broken. I wish you luck in your games and hope you don't get burned too much when your opponents win using an infinite combo of their own.

I totally know what you mean. This is more of a faerie/wizard deck than a faerie rogue one for sure. Less aggro more control. Different playstyles but both are legit. Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment.
