Deck Description

A little Grixis, a little Faeries, a lotta fun...

Comments and Critiques welcome. I like to keep my sideboard diverse and flexible.
Designed to surgically dismantle your opponents deck while hitting them with aggro/control/combo style. Keep them off balanced and adjust your strategy however you need in order to win.

Adjusted for new set:

Fun Combos:
Splinter Twin + Pestermite = unlimited pestermites with haste (swing and a win!)
Splinter Twin + Mistbind Clique = No mana for your opponents anymore (so sad...)
Splinter Twin + Spellstutter Sprite = Tap->counter target spell (fun fun fun).
Splinter Twin + Mistbind Click + Pestermite = Tap->Mistbind clique - champion Pestermite. Target opponent taps all lands. At the end of turn, Mistbind disappears and pestermite comes into play -> untap Mistbind. Rinse and repeat every turn for multiplayer lockdown for the rest of the game!

I started playing Magic in Alara. Grixis are my parent colors, man.

what's your win rate with this thing?
It looks fun with BB and Grixis-style controllface. swerve LOOKS fun. I don't like it though. Has it helped you get out of some stuff?

I like swerve for its flavor in this deck. I think it is a particularly annoying card, but not necessarily the best choice. However, a lot of decks I make I play for the fun and flavor, not necessarily because they are unbeatable. In fact, every deck I've ever made that won too much I took apart. I like the struggle I guess... If you don't like swerve, switch it out for undermine (sideboard), which has ALWAYS served me well. Every time I tap two blue... then a black and my friends go "shit man... laaaame". I love it!

Does Scion end up hurting you?
It looks like giving your guys shroud would render them (yes, untargetable by your opponent's stuff) but also Un-Championable to Mistbind, which seems to a primary source of trollin here.

No the Champion is not a 'target' effect. It is a choose effect so it goes through shroud. The only part where it hurts me is with splinter twin, but lets be honest, splinter twin or not its still up in your face.

yep. I got one blossom. Imma make this. i've made numerous drafts of my NIbo Grixis control deck before I settled on that one build. I've always wanted to venutre out of Alara a bit in favor of a Modernish Grixis Control.
and also, the Mistbind "Oh, sorry. You don't get a turn right now." thing is pure poetry.

Splinter twin with Mistbind is straight SINISTER. Good thinking.

yea, easy way to lock out their mana. I don't know why red blue fairies aren't used more often. Their flash effects work well with instant/sorc decks since in effect they are creature based insta/sorcs with all their 'come into play' effects.

BTW: my Inn of the Wolf's moon deck made it back to the up and coming. Your poem is back on board dude!

Thanks denmark Phoenix! Glad you approve. Yea this deck is totally mean, and flexible to your play style. You feel like just annoying the crap out of em, you can. You feel like just rolling over them, go ahead. You feel like sitting back and playing passive while your opponents duke it out with each other, leaving you free to stomp them later, by all means... :P

I'm also looking for other recommendations to increase cruelty levels in this deck if people have suggestions...

Did a little revamping. Added cavern of souls to make it more difficult to counter. Readjusted land strategy a little to get the 3 color combo easier. Played it out, it is really really fun. Give it a try if you can!

Dude i like this, but there are three things you may like to add to this.
- Deciever Exarch (A reprint of Pestermite)
- Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker (Does most of the same stuff as Splinter Twin)
- Intruder Alarm (Also combos with Kiki-Jiki and Splinter Twin)
But cool deck anyway - STORM IN STANDARD! http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=357783

Those are good if I wanted to make a splinter twin deck, but this is more of an aggro/control faeries that just so happens to also use splinter twin. I'll look into Intruder alarm at least, I like that card for this theme. We'll see, thanks for the comment!

scratch earthquake run bonfire. I really like this deck! it gets there it is a combo of two of my favorite things grixis and faeries.

was thinking about that. Not sure though, since I feel the damage output will regularly be higher with earthquake. But then again, Bonfire would clear out their flyers as well... hmmm
