4 Archons of the Apocalypse

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

To my knowledge there are only 4 Archons ever to be made. Each one kicks ass in it's own way. They are expensive to cast...but who cares. Lets make a deck around them anyway. Protect yourself until you can unleash the Archons. Suggestions welcome.

Did not expect to see this on the top deck list, especially MORE THAN A MONTH after I made it. So, with that said, I made this before Krond, the 5th archon

This looks pretty good but seems like it would take ALOT of turns to get started? like at least 5 until you can get out a creature? Maybe put something else besides silence to stall them. Maybe some low cost walls or oblivion ring.

Thanks and could you check out my decks?

Have you taken a look at Orim's Chant or Swords to Plowshares? Instant speed shut-down that is rather effective. It'll probably help keep you alive until you can unleash one of the archons.

I was thinking Orim's Chant as a possibility but I really don't wanna burn that big of hole in my pocket haha didn't think of Swords to Plowshares though. Thanks for the tip :) definitely gonna use it.

Path to exile is another good card to put in here. I really like the theme itself as Kazzong said the very essence of white. Maybe you should put in a darksteel plate to keep them from being destroyed.
Anyway awesome deck and if you would look at mine I would enjoy some constructive criticism!

if you want to keep it with only the archons, norn's annex and ghostly prison may both be good things to look at as with angel song and oblivion ring, maybe sneak in an entreat the angels to give a small army to your archons

I do have a few Ghostly prison that currently need a good home, thanks for the comment :)

I had to go change my pants of looking at this deck. Amazing dude, i love quicksilver amulet. Its one of the best cards ever in my opinion. Idk if there is anything out there that can help you get artifacts out quicker but that's the only thing i can think of man. Great build.

Thanks! And yeah Quicksilver Amulet was a great card to re-print. It just makes so many things possible.

Just a suggestion, why not use Luminarch Ascension as a Plan B?

1

It is a very good plan b! I may put it in, but I really just wanna keep the creatures to the Archons. I'll give it a think though. Thanks! :)

replace silence with orims chant. It does the same thing except it has a kicker that makes it where creatures can't attack this turn. otherwise really cool man

Krond the Dawn-Clad. The 5th Archon. He is amazing if you have creature enchants.

Just saw it the other day haha I'm gonna stick w/ mono white though. He is pretty awesome, I must admit. lol I guess someone from Wizards saw that I called em out for only having 4 archons

Consider Urza´s Incubator or run some green in your mana pool with Sunpetal Grove or similar for Elvish Piper, you need more that the Quicksilver Amulet to put the Archons in play faster. Also, you could consider Ghostly Prison or Aurification to defend yourself better. Besides that, good deck.

0

Thanks for the suggestions. I definitely wanna stay mono white and Urza's Incubator is a bit out of my price range lol But Ghostly Prison and Aurification are two of my favorite cards! I might put em in, any suggestions as to what I might wanna replace w/ them?

why not make it even more hard to beat by adding cards like personal sanctuary, and ascetacism (i know its green but you get the idea) in fact add privlaged position

I'll definitely consider it! Thanks for the suggestions :)

I know everybody like Oblivion Ring, but Pacifism does justice as well, and it costs less mana. Could be useful early in the game if the opponent gets out some cheap creatures...

I see where you're coming from. but the benefit of getting rid of other permanents is awfully nice

cool deck, looks neat, but i don't think that ajani's mantra really has a place, for one thing, your opponent will be dealing more damage each turn, for example, your opponent if they summon only 1 creature a turn that's another creature that can attack and ajani's mantra only gives you 1 life a turn, that will in absolutely no way protect you against your opponent. now, your creatures are obviously fairly expensive, i do believe that some mana ramp will do you very well, the best colorless mana ramp cards are wayfarer's bauble and mindstone, if you add these, you will more than likely be able to play your archons 1-2 turns early which could rewrite the fate of your game, the archons obviously have a CMC so you should play 24 lands. Thirdly, deathrender does not seem needed in this deck, in the offchance that your opponent does kill one of your archons, your deck is not based on bringing back creatures from your graveyard, it is based on summoning archons which you should primarily focus on by adding the mana ramp cards that i have suggested. the only thing keeping you from making this deck modern legal is swords to plowshares, if you simply switched those out in exchange for 4 path to exiles, it will be modern-legal. also, you should get rid of light from within, now i know that it will make your archons extremely powerful, but it will do nothing if you cant play the archons before its too late, also, the archons are powerful enough themselves as it is.

Thanks for the big long response lol gives me a lot to think about, puts tons of stuff into perspective. Ajani's mantra was a bit of a filler and I have been looking for some mana ramp. So once again thanks :)

so are you going to modify your deck?

0
Posted 15 June 2012 at 02:42

Probably will, I did take out Swords to plowshares as you suggested. I am thinking of leaving a few dethrender in though. Maybe get rid of ajani's mantra replace it w/ wayfarer's. idk exactly what I wanna do just yet

u should put in 2 or 3 ghostly prison, they will help survivability in the event of a mana screw

They would but they are a little pricey. I'll think about that one
