Deck Description

So, nobody really knows what's up with modern yet, so this what me and my friend Shawn are coming up with to try and break it.
The decks we know are going to be big, are;
zoo
12 post
control variants
affinity
and junk.

this deck can HOPEFULLY conquer those.

Deck discussion for Breaking Modern

Interesting. My buddies and I have been working on a "Dark Zoo" (WRGb) to break the format, but this is a very interesting idea. Keep me posted on how this goes =]

thank you (:
well i saw luminarch and fell in love. but never quite knew what deck could use it. so me and shawn were thinking... why not just make a heavy control? so we did, lol.
i think it's hardest matchup will be zoo, but i mean, 3 main deck pte, wog, 4 lightning helix, 3 wall, elspeth and gideon? it's not exactly a BAD match up, lol. just need to dragg it out.

the problem we thought of with zoo is that EVERYONE knows its top tier, so everyone will be super prepared for it. I don't think anyone expects this coming. lol

and even then, post board we have 3 blade splicer.
the moral of this deck is we hate zoo, and like winning control mirrors LOL

Well I'm still amazed that Goyf hasn't been banned in Modern to be honest, and it really shows the flaws of the format IMHO. Think about this: Mental Misstep is on the ban list, and Goyf isn't. Tell me, is Mental Misstep TRULY more dangerous that Goyf?

If/once Goyf has been banned, Zoo will be a FAR smaller threat. It will still be a contender, but to a much lesser extent. If/once that happens, I think this could do some damage =P

Like I said, keep me posted =]

Same! I said from day 1 "goyf will be banned."
and do some damage to what, this deck? :P

When i get some testing done, I will definitely keep you posted. (:
also keep me posted on dark zoo!

Hmmmm, this gives me an idea.

This is a really neat control deck, but something seems a bit off in the flow of it. Don't know what though, just seems off.

why thank you, and so far it's tested exceptionally well. :)

I bet. This thing looks like it can deal with most of the format quite easily.

Thanks again, (:
this deck was meant to be able to handle anything thrown at it.

it started off just u/w, but the red splash just pushed it over the edge, I think. it gave it speed in the mirror, and also the added speed gave it stability vs faster decks

Ajani Vengeant is a great way to deal with a lot of problem cards, I've seen people lose because of him in naya aggro-control.

Hey Ethan. Nice deck! I love this style of deck, honestly. Against any non-aggro deck, turn 2 Luminarch can be such a beating! 12-Post looks to be quite the deck, though, so I'd maybe look at some more answers to that right now. I mean, they essentially just win against this deck on the play if they manage to resolve a titan on turn 3 (which happens with annoying frequency!). I'm not saying you don't have game, but against a hardcast Emrakul on turn 4, you basically only have Rune Snag to try and slow the deck down...

You should rock most of the field outside of that, though. I'm honestly not even sure what great answers there are to 12-Post right now, either... So while I wish I could help more, I'm not really sure what to tell you. Haha. I'm working on it, myself. If you find some better solutions, please let me know!

As another thought, how's Rune Snag been working for you? I can see the advantages over Mana Leak or Remand, though I'm personally still not quite sure on any of them yet. Same goes for Wall of Denial vs. Wall of Omens, btw.

12 post is ify. post board we do have a few more answers. If i can just counter the titan, the it's a lot easier, lol.
mindbreak trap is great for emrakul. you dont counter him, you just exile him before he resolves :'D

I'm really glad you like the deck (: me and my friend worked on it quite hard, lol.

and also, rune snag works great. i'd rather it over mana leak any day. they just build up in the late game. and v.s. faster decks, you side them out anyways.

Yeah, Mindbreak Trap helps, but often the 12-Post decks run 2 or more Emrakul and they ramp so stupid fast that with that extra turn (from hardcasting a freaking Emrakul) they use their Eye of Ugin to find another Emrakul and hardcast it again.:( Stupid how powerful it is, really.

That's cool to hear about Rune Snag. I suppose with the format as generally fast as it is, 2 mana will be hard to play around until it's late enough where you'll have at least another 1 in the graveyard.

I like the Luminarch kill but I would test with 4 lighting bolt main. I would drop Cryptic Command and ponder to fit in a playset. I think I might go this route myself. Thanks for posting!
PS: if you wanne brainstorm Modern or Legacy drop me a PM on the forum (name = Seth).
