So, I've been thinking, and thinking, and thinking, and thinking, and THINKING on a way to break gifts ungiven in modern. First I was thinking maybe some form of BUG protean hulk, using; Protean Hulk + Body Double + Footsteps of the Goryo + Viscera Seer. Then the possibilities are endless as to what combos you could pull off. But, after doing a bit of research, I figured in a classic 12-post landbase I could pull off this; Life from the loam + Academy Ruins + Mindslaver + a utility needed at the time. If I get LftL I get academy ruins back, which will then give me back mindslaver. and with 12 mana, that's an infinite "I own your turn" loop. Of course, we're going 12-post, so might as well toss in some big brothas. (: Only need to actually be able to cast LftL and gifts, so blue green will do. (for colored mana purposes, that is.) Then just load it up with counterspells, utilities and some bruthas.

Dude, if I were you, I'd rock Kozilek over Ulamog any day. Kozi, with the card draw function will be exactly what the deck needs.

I like it, but I'm a little "meh" on Venser and think the Maps are mostly extra fluff =/
yeah, venser could go. but the maps were for a few things. agaisnt rdw I NEED to get those locus' into play. the life gain is actually quite substantial, and i can't afford to lose that race, lol. again, with the locus' it helps my ramp a LOT and if i have a mindslaver, but no academy ruins, it completes the combo. it does a lot more than just grab a land.
But sure, what would you replace venser with? i thought about fatespinner (i just love this card) but it seems too weak. Once i get the combo she's useless anyways. I would preferably like a creature. against the faster decks a chump blocker is always nice. and his bounce effect/counter effect is swell as well
Well, Goyf would actually fit in the spot nicely, buuuuuuut...that said...Mimic Vat might actually do some interesting things, so could Prototype Portal, and Rings of Brighthearth =P For creatures...Eh...Fatespinner is some freakin overkill lol, but it should work =/
it's funny, me and my friend were just talking about how the goyf would be amazing here... but 400$ for a card I think should be banned in the format? :/ maybe. and really? mimic vat... interesting choice. after I play the deck, and see how it runs, that actually could work o.o prototype I thought of, but feel it's too expensive (mana wise) and rings would be cool, but if it's used on mindslaver wouldn't it kind of be useless? i'd own their next turn either way, wouldnt I? and fatespinner is definitely good enough to at least deserve play testing. I love the card... deserves more highlight; so underrated!
Fatespinner is only underrated by players who dont like to be B*tches lol BUT for players like us who love being douches we love it! =D

dude that happened to one of my best friends at a FNM like a year ago, my friend had just beat the guy when the guy realized that one of my friends cards had fallen on the ground, we stopped going after that lol
wowwwww. that's lame. At our canadian national qualifiers, someone who plays locally was facing a guy from out of the city. Wu (the guy who plays regularly) was shuffling and dropped a card, but didn't notice. The other guy did. Instead of just telling him he dropped a card, he waited until Wu drew his opening 7, then called match loss (which you can't even call, it's a game not a match) Wu, being the nice guy he is respectfully agreed, before the judge was called. The judge was in wu's favor but because he had agreed, he lost the match, and that game was for 1st. :/ Fucking dicks out there, man. It really is a shame.
Right above the register in our shop is the "rules of the shop". In big bold letters, rule #1 says "don't be a dick." We had someone pull that crap once, and our store owner told him to leave. I understand if the person is noticeably trying to get an edge, but most of the time, it's a total accident. I've had a card fly out while shuffling before, and my opponent picked it up for me...That's classy man =]
That should be the number one rule everywhere.. lol. And yeah, the guy who pulled that is banned from the store. Thank god. He won, and never even went to nationals? Like Wu WANTED to go. This guy just wanted the packs... tsktsktsk. His defense was "But I want to win"... as if everybody else didn't? lol I don't understand some people

Have you considered Rune Snag over Mana Leak? I've been working on a RUG Control list for the format, and Rune Snag just destroys crap left and right. Also, if it hadn't been for this deck I would have never thought about using Condescend... I might have to sneak that in a few lists of mine. Overall it's a very interesting list, for which I have seen nothing similar, and iIn addition to the uniqueness of it all this looks like it could kick some ass.
hmm.. no honestly I hadn't. that's not a bad suggestion. I'm thinking the creatures in this less are more or less useless. I'd rather just more eldrazis, lol. any double colored mana occurrence seriously hurts the deck. So chances are I'll drop some creatures and just add rune snags in the place of venser. and vendillion clique..meh. I'm glad you like the deck (: I've yet to see any 12 post run gifts, and 11 colorless plus a blue mana on board with academy ruins and mindslaver is gg. (:
Gifts in twelve post is a really good idea, it's an engine like in old vintage gift decks, so it could blow up rather large. And I can support running Snag in the deck, especially over those guys. I've had amusing results with the list I had been talking about(now RUGw), and it's mostly because of Rune Snag. Also, Mindslaver=amazing.
mindslaver is the key win con in this deck, but after testing a bit with this deck, it's just not as strong as it needs to be. HOWEVER (lol) my new breaking modern deck is the strongest deck i've built yet in the format. it was made to handle everything we could think of... lol. if you'd like to check it out and leave your thoughts, it'd be muchly appreciated!
