Well, with the banning of jace and stoneforge, wanted to brew something up. :D

Made with cards I actually own, lol.

Deck discussion for Standard Brew

I am so damn happy Jace got banned. For so many reasons too...Bravo Wizards. =]

Seems like you chose a good time to explore the great and mighty realm of Legacy...Standard is going to be a shitstorm now that all the spoiled brats' decks are worthless! XD

(<_< Is it bad that I take enormous pleasure from that fact?)

Anyway, this looks like a nice, solid design dude. I like it. It's a little slow starting, but looks fast after that first turn.

Me too, like you have no idea. A little dissapointed that stoneforge is gone, but hey... it's a brand new meta, where rogue decks (such as this one) stand a chance!

And yessss, hahaha. glad I sold my jace for 80 when I could... and legacy is still not quite in my horizons yet, but it's definitely going to be soon.

I'm glad you like this build, though. The only concerns I have are the mana base issues. I have a good bit of fixers, and if I ramp a turn 3 primeval (t1 birds, t2 cobra, t3 fetch -> primeval) I can just hunt down the lands I need for t4. :3
Who knows, I just love all the threats in this deck. (:

I can't wait to see what Legacy will make of you. I think you have the talent to play in Legacy, and that is definitely not something you can say to just anyone.

I just played in a tourney today to see what the bans did to the meta. I had so much fun! There was...creativity! And nothing makes me happier than playing Extraction against a slew of totally different decks! It's like a puzzle every time! =D (By the way, without the worry of Caw-blade...my Extraction deck MURDERED that tourney)

Now, obviously Valakut will probably rise back up...But honestly, Valakut has notable weaknesses. So I'm fine with that really.

Wow, thanks man! : ) I guess we'll eventually see!

And I can't wait for the home brews! All the rogue decks <3 And well, your extraction murdered tournys even with jace and stoneforge. Now, they're screwed. LOL

Valakut definitely is on the rise, but I think MBC destroys valakut. As does tezzeret forgemaster, and even a fast goblin deck could mess them up. So yeah, overall I'm happy with the bans!

Exactly. As I see it, each one of the "best" is powerful against another...which is perfect! Extraction is on the rise around my area (not just my shop, but some other places too), but it's not an inherently easy deck type to use, so it's sadly not AS popular as it could be. Extraction is always powerful, and it's pretty damn strong in standard...but inexperience will make it falter to its weaknesses.

Take someone like me who has played Extraction for over a frickin' decade though...and it's a whole different story. =P

By the way, with the banning of SFM, what do you think is going to happen to Boros?

yeah... extractions a tough deck to play, for sure. i gave up.... LOL

And I think boros.... is dead. Like sure, stoneforge wasnt it's only good card, but it made it tournament worthy. without it... meh. not nearly as good.
m12 might bring a new boros card, but I HIGHLY doubt it.

Yeah pretty much. Extraction is hard to learn because you actually have to learn every other deck out there...and I won't lie, that's not only hard, but takes time and experience. That's why a newcomer to Extraction might be a threat, but a veteran is the most dominant player in the room.

And M12 is going to play out as such: Red will have a few good things, but overall will get the shaft. Blue will have a flat-line of average stuff...nothing too good, but nothing terrible. White is gonna be weird in that it will have some INSANE stuff, and then some really crappy stuff. Black is going to have everyone in an uproar, and Green is going to be a menace.

Boros isn't dead in my opinion, Equipment-based Boros is though. Boros was kicking people's ass well before SFM.

I don't think boros is standard will survive :/ It's not nearly as fast without stoneforge. I think goblins will just be better... goblins, MBC, Valakut, Tezz... I think they'll truly dominate.

and what makes you so sure with m12? :O I hope black will tear shit up, because I love black. (i love prettty much every color, but black is so bad ass)

and yes, extractors are very skilled. they must be, if you're going to cripple a deck, you need to know what makes it tick. if you dont.... good luck, lol

It's just the sort of trend the game is moving towards really. To showcase Hexproof. they're going to have a bunch of cards with Hexproof. Since Green is the main color where this ability exists (it was where it originated) most Hexproof cards in the set will be Green...so green will be a pain in the ass for control players.

Vampires are making a return in M12 along with the mechanic "Bloodthirst". Vampires have always been powerful, so it's pretty obvious Black will be ridiculous.

By the way, do you play EDH?

I've been meaning to try EDH, but lately money's just not there... with the release of the commander decks though, more people are getting into it, which edges me more to do so as well.

and in regards to your last comment, i love hexproof. its just so good. I hope to see a bangin' hexproof troll. :3 like thrun... but not, hahaha. a man can dream.

and i think bloodthirst is lame... :/ but i can see where you're going. It only takes 1 card to define a set... *cough* jace

Bloodthirst can be pretty impressive if used in the right deck. It can also be pretty underwhelming, but what can ya do?

EDH doesn't have to be a bank-breaker really. I've seen some pretty decent ones that were very budget friendly. =/

it may catch a few people off guard... but i feel that any ability, thats not backed up by impressive mana cost or a ridiculous power/toughness (abyssal persecutor, for example) is just a waste of mana... 1 doom blade can end it all.
sure, there are exceptions, but i like all my cards serving a very well needed purpose.

and EDH doesn't have to be a bank breaker, you're right. But I like going all out. :P
