Deck Description

Title pretty much says it all.
Comments would be majorly appreciated.

But for those of you who don't know how to read titles (lol) this deck is mainly focusing on ramping with lotus cobra, or w/e it may be, to hit 6 lands. once i do, I'll either drop an admonition angel, or a rampaging baloths. Once this is done, just watch the land hit the board, followed by some nasty effects.
How swell.

Hmmm...I like it. I would suggest Avenger of Zendikar if you can get it. That thing is pretty impressive. Also, in this case I think Cultivate might be a safer bet. Last thing is, you might want to consider Khalni Heart Expedition.

Hope I helped! =]

Yeah, i was thinking about avenger. and he may prove me well. I already have a few, so it wouldn't hurt to try.
kahlni heart expedition, i also thought about. and also forgot. lol, thanks for reminding me!

and cultivate, would be safer, but i liked explore for the card advantage.

thanks for the advice, and also thanks in general. Glad you like it :3

Yeah, I'd rather have a baloth than an avenger in this deck,

I was thinking about it, and that one extra mana, even though this is a slight ramp deck, could make a big difference. plus, im raping with cobra, so my landbase wont actually be that effective. id rather pump a baloth with a fetch, get 2 4/4s, than get some weak plants. lol

0
Posted 08 January 2011 at 22:14

The thing is that you can get a few 4/4's or a complete ass-load of plants, as in, a frickin' TON of plants, to the point where it's funny. Then those plants will quickly get boosted...probably past 4/4 (well 4/5) status. Also, you can toss in Khalni Garden for fun =P

0

haha yeah, this is true. :P

i'll mess around with it. because again, the fact im ramping with cobra will narrow down the amount of plants i'll have. because with avenger, i'll get only a set amount of plants, then boost.
but with baloths, ill just keep getting creatures (4/4s, at that) so long as I can play a land.

so ill have to mess aorund with this and see how it goes.

hey surewhynot, if i have 2 oracles of mul daya on the field, can i now play 3 lands?
it doesn't specify i can play only 1 additional, just states that i can play an aditional.
so, with 2 oracles, can i play an aditional aditional land? lol

that, is swell. lol
i was playtesting this deck, and dropped avenger turn 4. you were right man, he's a beast.
i thought with the cobras i wouldnt really have a great landbase but damnn. he owns.
i got our all the basic land in my deck turn 6.

i might have to add some more xD

but what do you think about emeria angel?
i may drop the gear because it seems like unecessary overkil, lol

Hehe, yeah...my buddy has a Landfall-based Stompy deck that had Rampaging Baloths in it as the Fat-Stomps, but the he tried out the Avengers instead and it is a VERY strong deck. It's actually pretty similar to this, aside from all the white cards obviously.

I would not use Emeria Angel, but that's just me. I know for a fact that Adventuring Gear is a beastly card. Don't take it out.

Also...If you're playing a removal trigger-happy deck, wanna know a trick? Exile YOUR lands with Admonition Angel. Give them a choice =P

Maybe try Frontier Guide to force the landfall, it's only basics land however, you judge

0

Frontier guide seems like a bit of a waste. land is pretty consitant in the deck, so I wouldnt really want to have to pay 4 just for a tapped forest/plains.

usually, whenever a baloth, angel, or avenger hits, it's game over. lol

Haha, well I'm glad you like the deck. :D

and it's honestly not that hard to find cards at a decent price.
but compared to my u/b control, this deck is cheap, lol.
i'd definitely spend 150$ on a deck, to me that's nothing.
when it hits 300+ is when it's if-y. :/

0

I personally like Explore more than I do Harrow, particularly with Oracle of Mul Daya, since it can help you get land drops more consistently by letting you draw the non-lands on top of your deck. I'd switch the counts on them (so 4xExplore and 2xHarrow), but it's more a personal preference, as I'm not sure it would be any better or worse. I like the deck though.

0

explore is good, but it's hit and miss.
i like harrow over explore because it's automatically 2 lands hitting the field.
and if by chance i dont need to pop a land just yet (like a misty rainforest), i can leave it on the field, then next turn sac it with harrow, and get 3 lands. with a lotus cobra, i can drop a baloth turn 4. :3

It might be useful to add an Emeria Angel or two; after all, extra defenses are always good.

0

if you read some comments above, I was considering that.
but I usually get one of my bigger threats turn 4, so it's not really a worry of mine to have chump blockers.
i may sideboard her, in the case i'm going against a swarm deck. but you never know, i'll mess around with her.

i am thinking about dropping the journey to nowheres though, for another angel and baloth

0

hmmm.. opiniond on eldrazi monument? If I have a good few tokens to sac, dropping a monument could prove me well.
if I do add a monument, i may look at emeria angel, early game sacrifices.

just ideas to throw around. opinions would help

0

I like Eldrazi Monument, but by the time you are putting it in play (in other words, have tokens to sacrifice) aren't you already winning typically? It may have it's place in this deck, but I'd look at how often your opponent's out-aggro you before giving it a place in the deck.

I know you are not playing black but Ob Nixolus is perfect in this deck. You can still play him with a lotus cobra down or you could splash a couple of swamps since you are playing the catacombs.

0

eldrazi monument is for the side board because black carry consume the meek and others have rachet in their sideboard most of the time so you need to sideboard in the monument to counter mass removal. don't really think its needed on the mainboard as your deck is pretty solid!
ps:look at my decks and tell me your opinion too!

Have you considered Channeler's of Mul Daya? I prefer them over their Oracle sisters cause of the different ability. For 3 mana it's either a 5/5 or a 2/2 with [T]: for two mana of any color. Just a thought. Let me know what you think.

So, I've been testing this out on Lackey, and I can't seem to get any explosive stuff going. I like the deck a lot, I just can't seem to get it to work. What would be your ideal hand? Just so I know what to mulligan on and what not.

Keep up the good work. :)

0

an ideal hand for me, is 2 lotus cobras, 1 forest, 1 plains, any sac land, a steppe lynx and a kahlni heart expedition, drawing into an admonition angel :D

i find this deck really consistant, i usually get shit going out pretty fast. but i am considering removing the 2 journey to nowheres for another admnition angel and a baloth, or 2 emeria angel.

ima mess around a bit and see what I come up with. (:

Very fun, I used to run a deck like it but stopped when Knight of the Reliquary left standard, which killed a LOT of this deck's usefulness...

I would HIGHLY recommend using Sejiri Steppes. With Ruin Ghost, that's instant speed protection from kill spells, or unblockability versus a mono-color deck.

I also used to use singletons of Piranha Marsh and Halimar Depths, tutor them out with Knight of the Reliquary, and bounce them with Ruin Ghost to reuse their effects... I guess you could try the same with Primeval Titan now, if you were willing to buy them?

0
Posted 12 January 2011 at 17:05

I mayy try that. i have a load lying around (sejiri steps) but I'm ify on the tapped part..
I like being able to just drop stuff left right and center, then by turn 4 drop an angel.

and titans... eh. theyre 60$ here, and I don't really want to spend money on them.
to be honest, I don't know what I'd take out for them anyways, lol.

0

Well it looks good to me. Of course, I don't know much about this type of deck, so I couldn't tell you one way or the other really.

Although, I would like to talk about a game I had going earlier today.

For some reason the deck decided to hate me and I couldn't draw a big "game-ender" to save my life. So I was stuck there, with a Steppe Lynx and a Lotus Cobra with like, five land. A few turns go by and I now have in my hand two fetch lands, an explore, an emerge unscathed, and a harrow. Needless to say, I dropped all of it and ramped the Lynx to like, 18/18 and swung for the game with protection from all of his mono-black infect creatures. It was very satisfying. The next game I had a turn four Rampaging Baloth. XD

This is one of the most fun decks I've played with in a while. Great work man. :D

haha thanks :D
glad you like it! :3

this deck is choosy sometimes, lol. it had it's bads moments, but it's usually fairly consitant.

and i loveee the look on people face, when turn 4 admonition angel just destroys everything, lol
i usually leave some fetchlands on the field, so if they drop anything with haste, or say a journey to nowhere, instantly pop the land, and exile what i wish :D

0

I don't really know what type of decks you play against, but Sword of Body and Mind is a pretty good SB card when facing lots of Green and Blue decks. With Elves and Jace decks being popular right now, it could be useful to have a few of those. That said, I don't really know what type of decks you typically play against.

I've been thinking about making a G/W landfall for awhile now, and when i do it'll probably look a bit like yours. It seems like you have just about everything covered. The only thing i would suggest is maybe going down to three Oracle's in the deck. I used to have 4 in my landfall deck but i hated having two of them in my opening so i dropped one.

If you could, could you look at my landfall deck? It's kind of goofy being G/R/B but i like it. It's my lovely landfall one. Thanks in advance!

I'm seriously considering the offchance that I don't draw into a big guy.
that's where fauna shaman appeals to me. but when I think of putting her in the deck, she seems out of place.
suggestions?

note; stillllll considering removing the journeys fr 1 more angel and baloth. id really like opinions on this

0

I'd keep the Journeys in. Unless of course you find yourself really wanting either the Angel or the Baloth quiet often in games and not getting them. Otherwise having removal is always a good thing to have in a deck i think.

If you reeeaaally want the two in, i'd probably get rid of the Adventuring Gears, or Emerge Unscathed's. Adventuring Gear is good, but you don't NEED them to win, you know? Emerge's just don't seem like they'd do too much, but hey, this is your deck haha.

0

the gears, are situational, but they've proved well worthy of keeping them in. and also the emerge unscathed are too good. lol, protection does way too much in standard, it's crazy.

but i've yet to take this deck to any actual tournaments, just casual play. so i'm keeping all these comments in mind.

thanks :D

0
Posted 13 January 2011 at 18:47

Yeah, the protection is really good. It lets you swing for crazy amounts of damage that would normally be blocked. Like a 24/25 steppe lynx. XD

I feel as though your need to draw into big creatures is really severe. I've lost several games with this deck where I just didn't get the turn four Baloth draw I needed. I've had some of the most explosive mana ramp ever, but no big creatures to make use of it. Fauna Shaman could solve that. But so could adding more.

I'm going to take out the Adventuring gears for 1 more Baloth and Angel, and I'll report back on how it does.
