Deck Description

So, recently I've been play testing a LOT with control. Mainly my spectral-blade. But, it turns out I'm an aggro player more than anything, and going from simply turning dudes sideways to having to hold up mana is actually quite hard.

SO, with provincials this weekend (saturday, to be exact) I need to really feel comfortable with the deck I'm playing, and green does wonders for me apparently.

I know this is pretty much just a net-decked version of the 1st place SCG open that was held last weekend (forget where... Ohio? Iunno) but it's a great deck, that's fairly easy to get a hold of after playing in a similar style pre-rotation.

I present to you, the rough draft of my Wolf-Run Ramp

Deck discussion for Wolf Run Ramp

Nice Deck Dude. Ive seen your work before and you pretty much a veteran at this game lol. Also I'm brand new to magic...like I started 3 months ago. You Mind looking at my deck that I posted and give your input? Thanks dude.

Haha thanks, man! But I'm hardly a veteran. I've won FNM once, and have been playing since the day Scars of Mirrodin was released. Where I play MTG is VERY competitve. Like fnms around north america are apparently casual... here, people take it very seriously, hahaha.

But I don't mind checking out a few decks every once in a while (: Lately i've been ignoring all the comments on the new white-blue and spectral blade, but first come first served on new decks ;P

Hey Ethan. I like this deck. Pretty similar actually to my rG deck I made recently (and even before this type of deck won so I proudly wasn't netdecking;) ). The biggest upgrade this had was the 4 Inkmoth Nexus which I hadn't really even considered.
One thing to think about though, is that right now Wurmcoil is decent, but he's maybe not quite as good as you want him to be. Even against red decks, he's a tad slow and they can Ember Hauler block and shoot you before damage so you won't gain the life. One option that MAY be better right now I'm thinking is actually Batterskull. It does essentially the same thing, but for 1 cheaper which could be huge against a red deck. Also, it's much better against decks with Phantasmal Image (which is becoming a staple in control). In terms of protection from removal, it comes out about even with Wurmcoil against red decks "splashing" Ancient Grudge as they'll still get the relevant lifegain portions of the wurm anyway while Batterskull can at least potentially bounce and turn any of your dudes into major threats.

Just an idea. Sorry if it's too late to help, but best of luck to you tomorrow!:)

So, after a great tourney with it... What do you have to say about the deck? Any major changes or cards you'd wished you had brought? Just curious - I've been working on getting many of the cards of this basic type of deck recently and would like to hear your opinion.

The ONLY problem with this deck is it mulligans like shit. if you have a bad opening 7.... it's really shitty. I did win my final round on a mull to 5 though, lol.

my sideboard for the weekend was;
3x brimstone volley
3x ancient grudge
3x spellskite
2x thrun the last troll
2x witchbane orb
1x phyrexian metamorph
1x acidic slime.

it's such a solid board, i love it haha.
the deck DESTROYS solar flare, and cannot lose vs rdw, 2 of the top decks right now.
while playing the deck you gotta realize that doj seriously can blow you out, so never over-compensate. but also keep in mind that even though the deck runs so hard on green mana, if you don't have triple red, a lot of the times you're put in a bad situation looking at a slagstorm and an arc trail, lol.

overall it's an amazing deck, kessig wolf run is just stupid good. but now it's time to brew, hahaha
