Deck discussion for Divine Reckoning

I like your idea.. but there are too many useless cards. Break of Day, Safe Passage, Angel's Tomb, etc.

Doode, it's a commander deck. A lot of a commander deck is made up of filler cards that are usually "useless".

Agreed. Also, Commander games are much slower than normal games (such as standard and modern).

Who the hell would ever put cards in a deck that are useless? I have several commander decks and never done that. Why would you?

Well, to answer your question; lots of people would put useless cards into a deck. Why ? Because they are new to playing MTG, and thus being new to building a deck of their own from scratch. OR because they don't have the physical cards that are required to complete the deck and need filler in the deck to play it because they don't use proxies.

Ehm.. you totally misunderstood my post - yes, it's alright to put useless cards in the deck.. I'm just pointing it out, so that the owner og this deck might change it, when he obtain some better cards.
Your point about Commander: baaah, I'm almost only playing Commander and I would hate to draw useless cards.

I agree with zniwalla, even if it is a 100 cards, and you need a lot of fillers, never put useless cards, I do a lot of commander decks (check my decks) and there are some cards that are stapples in the format. ***Note, I do get you can't always have all the cards you want for your deck, therefore you use the best you have, the next post have some recommendations for felipe1san and his specific idea for the deck, this post might help some.***

Some examples:

General: Sol Ring, Command Tower, and any Identity Signet are always desired (Selesnya Signet in your case). Chromatic Lantern if playing 3 colors is a stapple for me. Solemn Simulacrum goes well with any commander deck (land fetch, draw, and 2/2 body for 4 colorless mana? Any day!). Last but not least, Lightning Greaves and/or Swiftfoot Boots, although Sigarda can go without them. Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse are usual in 3 colored decks, consistency with 2 is ok.

White: Usually stapples are 1 mana removals, Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile, some use Land tax (unless playing green), and Oblivion ring is almost always desired. If using lots of enchantments/equipments (Sigarda voltron deck), take Enlightened Tutor. I run Return to Dust as it is amazing utility. Serra Ascendant is a beast in the format with 1 or 2 colors (3 or more if playing lots of dual lands).

Green: Usually ramp, Cultivate and/or Kodama's Reach will give you GREAT card advantage and ramp, you can do more but those two will suffice (maybe a Sakura Tribe Elder). I prefer Krosan Grip to Naturalize, personal taste but one cannot be countered for one mana. Acidic Slime and Eternal Witness are wonderful cards I put in every green deck, and since Primeval Titan is banned, Oracle of Mul Daya is the best next thing. Green Sun's Zenith, Worldly Tutor, Primal Command and Tooth and Nail are great tutors depending on the deck.

Hybrid W/G: Well... Mirari's Wake is probably the best card there is in both colors, every deck that plays both should have it IMHO. Privileged Position and Sterling Grove are awesome cards to go with any deck specially if running enchantments.

Specific cards for this deck: Sylvan Library should go in any green deck without black/blue draw support, it is as good as it gets and with Abundance... well, Ancestral Recall without paying for it and choosing what you need. If going the equipment route for Sigarda, get the Stoneforge Mystic package (Puresteel Paladin and Stonehewer Giant) and get some equipments, any sword(s) (Feast and Famine and Fire and Ice are the best for her, even Sword of Vengeance), Loxodon Warhammer, Darksteel Plate, etc... If not going for a voltron deck (meaning buff your commander a lot and win with commander damage) usual graveyard recursion works well: Karmic Guide, Reveillark, Sun Titan, and friends (Eternal Witness plays nice with them). The other way to go Voltron is with enchantments/auras like: Indestructibility, Rancor, Bear Umbra, Eldrazi Conscription, etc...

Anyway, my 2 cents, some of those cards are pretty cheap and easy to get, some of them are not. Utility lands like Cavern of Souls, Boseiju, High Market, Cathedral of War, etc... go well with most decks. Specially this one.

I already posted my reply regarding usual commander staples and what not. But for the theme you are going for (Humans and Angels for what I can see) I can recommend some useful and awesome cards to go with.

+ Luminarch Ascension is pretty amazing if dropped early and if charged... well... 4/4 angels for 2 mana without the need to tap. Spam away!
+ Moonsilver Spear more angels that you can count just by attacking :D
***Mentor of the Meek does wonders with small tokens, want some cavalry to go along?
+ Hero of Bladehold, this girl can really make and pump an army and make you draw a LOT with Mentor of the Meek.
+ Almost every Elspeth put a lot of soldier tokens on play, useful for drawing with the Mentor, aggro, cannon fodder, you name it! And she is super powerful in all of them.
+ Linvala, Keeper of Silence is an amazing control angel, probably top 3 of them.
+ Champion of Lambholt not only pumps herself, makes your army unstopable and protects you from aggro.
+ Doubling Season, it is miles better that Parallel Lives for 1 mana if you can afford it. Counters never seemed so awesome.
+ Archangel of Thune, expensive, but with some lifelink or life gain, makes armies unstoppable.
+ Victory's Herald, really cheap card, but your army can swing through the heavens giving you lots of life back.
+ Mirran Crusader, knights are always good and brave, this may be one of the best.
+ Asceticism gives tons of protection to your creatures, and can regenerate if something goes wrong.
+ Twilight Shepherd, resilient angel, and can save everyone from mass destruction. Put a +1/+1 counter on her after and she is as good as new.
+ Eternal Witness, I already expressed my fascination on this girl, and... she is Human! Get one if you can :D

One last recommendation... Balance out your lands. You have 58 white mana for just 21 green mana that can be spent on your cards. Maybe take out some Forest and put some more Plains. Play with those until you feel comfortable and consistent.

I hope those cards go well with the theme you want for your deck (:
(Have you tried putting Lightmine Field and Vigor on the board... Surprise!)
