Deck discussion for U/R Vampires

I like it! Might not do so well if your opponent has a lot of bounce; that'll ruin your counters, or if they have burn spells early on, or even worse, enough blockers to consistently prevent combat damage. However, those are all ifs and ands, and this looks pretty solid. Me gusta. :D

SSOOOOOO ORRIGGIANALALLL DERPDPERPDERP

trolling aside, I actually love this kind of deck, partly because U/R is a great color combination, and partly because blademasters are underrated.

heres a budget version of this deck I made a few weeks ago.

Cool idea. I feel like in a deck like this you gotta have atleast a couple Falkenrath Marauders, even though they are expensive mana wise.

+1 for U/B vamps, pretty original. I'd say more spot removal to help your vamps get through. Maybe add bonfire of the damned too to clear the way for your vamps. Remember you need to get them to hit your opponents first before they get big. Otherwise it looks solid. Also, +3 mana leaks, -1 CoSP, -2 Bloodcrazed.

Thanks for checking out my demon/devil deck!

Arachnophobia at it's finest this will give you opponents the fear of spiders within minutes!

wow really interesting, a vamp deck without black

I personally feel that black vamps are the better compared to red vamps (with the exception of a few, stromkirk noble comes to mind). Right now there are some great black vamps coming to standard such as vamp nighthawk, vamp nocturnus and bloodline keeper. These are vamps that are worth playing in the deck.

My suggestion would be to focus more on black vamps and add some red vamps such as stromkirk noble, stromkirk captain or maybe an olivia voldaren. I am actually building a B/R vamp right now if you wanna check it out. I think playing blue is not the best of ideas, especially for a vamp deck as you want to win the game using creatures/burn spells rather than controlling your opponent. I feel that a vamp deck should try to end the game asap rather than drag the game out. At least thats my opinion.

For the tl;dr version, drop blue altogether, save stromkirk noble in main deck, get some burn spells (brimstone volley, pillar of flame, bonfire of the dammed, etc) and get black vamps (bloodline keeper, vamp nighthawk, etc)

I would suggest replacing your two Ponder spells with two Tezzeret's Gambit spells. It will reliably play turn three, with or without colored mana (albeit with minor life loss), and it will further strengthen your creatures via proliferate. While Ponder can tailor the topdeck, Tezzeret's Gambit just places it all in your hand directly, eliminating your need to rearrange them altogether.

Once M13 is released, I strongly suggest that you change this into a UB Vamp deck. As it is, it seems excellent but not for my metagame. Might not matter in your metagame, but I'd recommend a bit more burn.

If you would check out my deck, it would be appreciated.http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=348636
And +1 like.

I strongly agree. I had a U/B vampire deck it always killed B/R the control factor is what wins games in standard not blunt creature damage. Thanks for the feedback

The reason R/B vampires didn't survive is because all the red vampires suck. :)

I love the ideas put forth to make this deck. The proliferate that blue gives is great.

I played a deck once at fnm, with those changes and a completely different sideboard. I tested it a lot with casual plays, and It runs very consistent, winning 5/9 of the time, playing intermediate to semi advanced decks.

What makes you think BR Vamps weren't good? BR Vamps was one of the four top decks in the last standard, along with Caw-Blade, RUG Titan, and Valakut.

Having ramped up creatures is good, but sometimes its not enough against a token deck where you just can't kill myrs fast enough. I would maybe consider 2 or 3 artful dodges for the killing blow. The unblockable for one is good, but the flashback for one is what wins games.

hey i like this, id never thought of using proliferate like that (+1 for you!), but i think you're still missing the key components of a proliferate deck!

Look into this such as:
Inexorable Tide
Contagion Clasp
Contagion Engine
