Changing Land Types
I'm thinking about making a deck based on changing my opponents land types as they try to cast spells. Let's say my opponent wants to play Incinerate, but two of my Dream Thrush's tap to activate their abilities and change both his Mountains into Swamps, cancelling his spell, right? Does this mean that, on the stack, I'm theoretically changing his lands BEFORE he taps? Please explain the exact order of operations I should take while playing this theme, or if it's even legal at all.
Thanks in advance!

you can't respond to him tapping his land for mana. mana abilities do not use the stack.
from the moment he declares that he's using the mana ability to the time the mana appears in his mana pool, there does not exist a point where the priority (and ability to react) goes to you.

So, in order for my deck to work, I would need to tap Dream Thrush's ability BEFORE he taps his lands for mana? That could be viable..

except that he can still tap the land for mana as a response to you activating Dream Thrush's ability....putting his mana in his pool before your ability resolves.
you could activate during his upkeep, he responds by tapping and putting that mana in his pool....then if he still hasn't used it when the phase ends he would lose it, so it does force/control his mana usage a bit.
but I'm not sure it's something you'd want to build a deck around.

all those together? An almighty rules headache, but I think I know what happens. All lands are plains. period.

So, if I played this deck right, he would only be able to active mana abilities during his/her upkeep? Interesting. Not only that, but the Phantasmal Terrains and Convincing Mirages would also act as permanent land disruption. Doesn't seem so bad to me.
Anyway, this deck idea isn't an incredibly strong deck type, but I love playing weird and unusual decks that make people go "what the hell?", I think it spices up Magic. H8 playing "hurr durr, here's my type 2 standard vampire deck, YOU LOSE!" people. Gets so old.

Sounds like a deck I've seen that revolves around abusing coin-flip cards as much as possible. That deck pretty much results in a lot of people tearing their hair out and wanting to murder whoever plays it.
