IYO: What are the best Standard decks right now?

Just wondering what you guys think are the best T2 decks out there now that WWK has been out for a little while. Is it still Jund that everyone plays, or have there been other decks that have risen to the top. Please explain, instead of just naming a deck... Thanks

Jund and variants is still as far as I know the current "best deck", or at the very least dominating the metagame.

It deserves the respect, and hatred, it gets though. :manab::manar::manag: is a really mean combination. You get card advantage, acceleration, haste, good creatures, and good damage.

also, Vampires

there's a few diff ways to focus the deck(lifegain/sanguine, discard/enchants, straight combat) but they have a really good selection of cards that only got better with WW.

also, those decks have a much longer lifespan(both in Standard and outside of it)...jund is dead in a few months

Recently I have been seeing more Vampire decks then Jund decks and that is like aa thorn in my sides. The mere fact that Wizards made Vampires incredibly good right after the Twilight fad. I honestly hate Twilight to its very core. But that's beside the point.
Other than Vampires and Jund I have witnessed a few other decks take rise and stomp the yard in their own way. Several are listed below:

Naya: Fairly close to Jund, this deck type is based around quickly getting creatures out to stomp you. Usually it works. Many people have taken Boss Naya to new levels and even Naya Lightsaber or Excaliber.

U/W Control: A fair amount of people still use this archetypeal deck in tournaments and claim it still is a commanding force in Magic. The key finisher in many of them being the Jwar Jwar Sphinx.

White Weenies: Whether it be Kor Armory or something else, white still shows up at least once at every FNM. Stoneforge Mystic is a great card that's used in many decks and thrives with the Kor. Elspeth, albeit from the Shard of Bant, oh so long ago, still shows herself to pump up the little buggers. An army is quite difficult to deal with.

Grixis Control: I've been seeing more and more of these lately. It seems everyone has one in mind or is already playing one. With Cruel Ultimatum And a host of answers to common FNM problems, it's no wonder Grixis is coming back into the light of day.

"Grund": A strange thought but not when you think about it, If you look at a basic Jund deck, a Grixis control can be modified slightly to act just as a Jund deck and be able to throw out things like the Ultimatum to totally screw people over while still remaining aggressive with creatures. I am personally trying to make one of these powerhouses work for myself.

These are basic deck types that are commonly seen in at my local FNMs and are even seen in bulk throughout the Vault. It's always one of thee deck types that win. Personally, I like Grund.

for even trying to make the connection to twilight, you should blacklist him. The twilight series is the most bull crap thing and i will refuse to ever acknolowedge its existence.

F.Y.I. the author actually said that she was happy that she didn't research vampires before writing the books... COUGH...kill her...COUGH

Jund is still the top deck but there are many variants.

This is the list I ran at the GP Brussels and I went 7-2 on day 1.

* 4 Savage Lands
* 4 Raging Ravine
* 4 Verdant Catacombs
* 2 Dragonskull Summit
* 1 Rootbound Crag
* 2 Lavaclaw Reaches
* 3 Mountain
* 3 Swamp
* 4 Forest

* 4 Bloodbraid Elf
* 4 Sprouting Thrinax
* 4 Putrid Leech
* 3 Siege-Gang Commander
* 3 Broodmate Dragon
* 2 Garruk Wildspeaker
* 4 Lightning Bolt
* 4 Blightning
* 3 Maelstrom Pulse
* 2 Rampant Growth

* Sideboard
* 3 Great Sable Stag
* 4 Burst Lighting
* 4 Deathmark
* 1 Pithing Needle
* 1 Maelstrom Pulse
* 2 Terminate

Other decks:

Naya: Is a good deck but has almost no chance against Jund after sideboard

UW control: I'd say 50/50 against jund in the hands of a really good player. I would not run this deck as it is just too hard to play. It realies too heavily on the brainstorm effect of Jace.

Vampires: Anyone who says vampires is a competitive deck right now doesn't know what they are talking about. A good vampires deck kills Jund but looses to almost everything else. They have no way of dealing with Behemoth Sledge and lack the card advantage of multicolored decks.

White Weenie (equipment version): This is a good deck, it's very evasive and kills fast. It's vunerable to removal and top decks really bad. In top deck mode the deck looses most of the time. Still it's a good deck.

RGW Allies: I lost to this deck with Jund. The guy I was playing against was really good and so was his deck. It showed how devestating aggro allies can be. He ran Ranger of Eos, Bloodbraid Elves, allies and I even saw baneslayer after sideboard. Just thought I'd mention this deck although it was probably a homebrew and not a netdeck.

RDW: I didn't play against it but it was rather popular at the GP and my friends said it was really good and really fast.

Mystic there's a deck called mystic something, can't remember the name. It's the most expensive deck in the format. My friend played against it in the trial and he said he didn't stand a chance. He ran the deck I ran and he's and ex-pro tour player. (best player I know)

NOTE: About my Sideboard: 4 Burst lightings were something I put in the day of the GP because my friend said I needed them against Red decks. I ended up siding them in almost every game. They were awesome against so many decks.
It even won me the game against valakut.

I knew he could combo for the kill and I had burst lighting in my hand and he was at 2 life. I attacked forcing him to combo. He did and but 24 damage on the stack. I stacked my burst lighting on top of that for the win :)

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking jund has stayed on top. It got even better with the addition of raging ravine I think. Although many of the top deck types got help from WWK, jund is just too rediculous. I can't wait for jund to cycle out, and see what's next.

I believe you're talking about Mythic Bant.

It's expensive running Baneslayer Angel, Lotus Cobra, and Rafiq of the Many as mythics as well as assorted manlands, Finest Hour, and Thornling.

The concept is to ramp up to something big, then give it exalted power through Rafiq and Hour to swing for damage.

I wish ppl were able to make their points without constantly resorting to horseshit statements like this. This is the exact problem with the articles section. If you disagree with their opinion or provide one they don't agree with then "you simply don't know what you are talking about". it's the defacto response to ppl that disagree with you here and it's lame.

This deck actually looks really strong. I've never played against one, but on paper it looks really good. Too bad it's too expencive for me to ever own... lol.
