lock down

i have a friend who played a 12 player game (i wasnt there) and he won by locking down the entire field. For some reason he wont tell me how he did it, so i cant fully believe him but i want to does anybody know ho to lock down an entire field in 12 player free for all and then win i would love to see this. :)
