Doom Blade cast on Iona, Shield of Emeria
If Doom Blade is cast on the legendary creature Iona, Shield of Emeria, is Iona destroyed due to the LIFO mechanic of the stack, or does Iona's effect activate first?

i believe the key here is that although iona's ability might seem like a triggered ability in reality it is not. It is a static ability which means as soon as iona has resolved and is entering the battlefield you automatically cannot cast any spells of the certain colour
static abilities dont use the stack they simply are contant at all times

I'm pretty sure pelican is correct, once Iona resolves and names black you can't respond by playing doom blade, it's game over. the naming of the color is not an ability that goes on the stack.

Pelican is right. Naming a color, choosing a mode and target, or making choices in general are for the most part not visible to the game.

if u are trying to cast a doom blade on iona while shes on the stack then that is an illegal move since the card targeted has to be on the battlefeild already not in the stack while in the stack she is still a spell
