Token help
From reading other posts I have a general idea of how tokens work but one thing i'm still not sure of is. To use a token does it need to be in your hand or once you tap the ability of the creature do you just search your deck for it?

I strongly doubt that

Tokens are creatures that exist only on the battlefield, they can never be in your hand nor in your library. If for any reason they leave the battlefield they are exiled forever.

You must be confused about the fact that there are actual token "cards" which feature a generic goblin, or elf or such. These are NOT for the sake of your library, hand, graveyard etc. part of the game. They are simply to be used once a token is put onto the battlefield to represent that token creature. You could alternatively use a dice, or a card sleeve or any other ambiguous ways of representing that token.
Essentially when an effect says to put a token into play it basically (for the sake of the game) it basically comes into existence from nowhere, it wasn't part of your deck/library/hand etc. it just appears. Because of this a token when it dies, goes to the graveyard....but once it arrives there it immediately is exiled(as it isn't an actual card).
For most other interactions token simply work as regular permanents/creatures.

You could play on a sheet of white plastic and use a dry erase marker as long as you keep it accurate to what's what and when it's tapped.
Just remember they do actually go to the graveyard long enough to trigger relevant abilities before going "poof" and dissapearing from the game world.
