Build ME a deck

Hey everyone,

This might not be a competitive challenge, but one that would help me out a lot. Winners will be made into real decks I will make and play with.

Decks have to be made from these sets only (comment on the side stating how many of those I have):

M10 - Commons
X - Should have a full set
Alara Reborn - limited quantities (I'll have to check if I have the card(s))
Conflux - limited quantities (I'll have to check if I have the card(s))
Shards of Alara - limited quantities (I'll have to check if I have the card(s))
Zendikar block - Should have a full set
Worldwake - I have the full set
Rise of the Eldrazi - I'll have to see when the shipment comes in, but should be a full set

No limited number of cards. No sideboard necessary.
No color restrictions, Mono or Multi welcomed.
Specify winning conditions, theme, or just weird objective that may come from that deck.
Does not have to be tournament ready - but mention if it does.
Use for multiplayer games, or EDH, or anything other than standard is OK, but mention if it is.
Any mix and match from those sets listed above. I should have at least 4 of each card. Some of the more rarer ones may be less, but I should have at least 1 of them.
I have ALL of the Planeswalkers - those included would be nice, but not necessary.

Multiple entries welcomed!

Thanks, this would help me out extremely!

My Fueled Flames deck (see my profile) is by far my favorite.

If you want to know why nobody has specifically made you a deck yet, it is because your post is both confusing and selfish. And a bit annoying.

* Firstly: "Make ME a Deck Challenge " - where's the fun in that? No theme, just completely open-ended and solely for your benefit.

Alternatively: Most people will create a challenge that is closer to, "Have fun! And I dare you to find a way to make a deck around this card -- or this idea." Even if they really want you to make them a deck, they at least hide their intentions under the guise of a friendly activity with a clear goal. And they present it in a fun way. When I read your post, I thought, "wow, this rich n00b is just lazy." No offense, but you sound that way.

* Secondly: "Here. I have every card except some cards and probably 4 of each. Oh, except maybe not."

Alternatively: Instead of making us waste our time wondering what you really have (or don't), give us a specific format, e.g. Zendikar Block (Zendikar Worldwake, Rise of the Eldrazi). Or SEARCH for decks that use some of the best cards you own. And give us at least some direction to what you want.

* Lastly: Give your thread some pokes. Maybe let people know that you are also trying to make a deck. Post an idea you are working on.

I'm not going to leave you with a bunch of harsh criticism. Because that is a bit rude. So here's a list for you that is mostly the cards you have. Since you have every Planeswalker, I'm sure you can buy or trade for the rest of the cards. And you can tweak it in any direction. I'd switch the Ousts for something better, but it's your call (the person was testing them):

[QUOTE]This is a UW Standard-Legal Control Deck that won a magic-league online trial.

4 Celestial Colonnade
4 Glacial Fortress
7 Plains
6 Island
4 Tectonic Edge

4 Wall of Omens

4 Oblivion Ring
1 Path to Exile
4 Martial Coup
4 Spreading Seas
4 Everflowing Chalice
2 Day of Judgment
3 Mind Spring
2 Oust

4 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
3 Gideon Jura

Sideboard:
1 Day of Judgment
2 Luminarch Ascension
2 Mind Control
2 Negate
4 Flashfreeze
4 Kor Firewalker[/QUOTE]

Here's a second list, if you are not a fan of control decks.

[QUOTE]
Here's a RGW Ally Deck. It is Zendikar Block Legal.

4 Arid Mesa
7 Plains
2 Mountain
3 Forest
4 Stirring Wildwood
4 Raging Ravine
4 Akoum Battlesinger

4 Hada Freeblade
4 Harabaz Druid
4 Kabira Evangel
4 Kazandu Blademaster
4 Oran-Rief Survivalist
4 Talus Paladin

2 Burst Lightning
4 Join the Ranks
2 Journey to Nowhere

Sideboard
2 Burst Lightning
2 Journey to Nowhere
3 Cunning Sparkmage
4 Kor Firewalker
4 Luminarch Ascension[/QUOTE]

If these decks end up being too expensive for you, or if you like more creative/not mainstream decks, here's a T2 legal Pauper deck that is fun:
[QUOTE]
I made this deck and it is called "UR Cooking in my Kiln."

// Lands
2 [ROE] Island (1)
7 [ZEN] Mountain (6)
4 [WWK] Halimar Depths
2 [ZEN] Teetering Peaks
4 [ROE] Evolving Wilds
4 [M10] Terramorphic Expanse

// Creatures
4 [ROE] Kiln Fiend
4 [ZEN] Plated Geopede
3 [ROE] Goblin Tunneler
3 [ZEN] Windrider Eel
3 [ZEN] Goblin Bushwhacker

// Spells
4 [M10] Ponder
4 [ROE] Distortion Strike
4 [M10] Lightning Bolt
4 [WWK] Searing Blaze
4 [ZEN] Burst Lightning

// Sideboard
SB: 4 [ROE] Deprive
SB: 4 [WWK] AEther Tradewinds
SB: 4 [ROE] Staggershock
SB: 3 [ZEN] Into the Roil

It is based on fast aggro and good spells. Kiln Fiend Grows whenever you play sorceries or instants. You usually try to make it unblockable using Goblin Tunneler or Distortion Strike, and then play spells to make it huge.[/QUOTE]

I hope you learn to make clearer requests in the future. Good luck. Have Fun.

Yes, as I have stated, this isn't a competition per se. But just helping me make a deck. It's clearly stated.

I have went through a lot of decks that seem cool and something I'd like to try. However, alot of those decks have many cards outside of what I have. I've listed pretty much all the sets I have, so I can actually make a real deck if someone submits it.

I'm not out to make the biggest deck or the powerfulest or whatever. I'm a brand new player, who literally just learned the game. I don't go to FNM, I don't have a lot of friends that play, so my only MTG contact is through here. I'm asking for peoples help here, that's all.

It's really hard making a deck by yourself, especially if you haven't made one before. It's really hard to get a grasp of everything by yourself. The only decks I've manage to play with are Pre-Cons. And that is pretty hard in itself because I'm not sure what every card can do or how they work together. It's really hard to keep into this if all I have are cards but no decks to play with.

I really don't care if people make new decks for this challenge. If it's already been made and fits within those decks, I'm fine with that. Just link it as whitey_mcfly did.

Whatever, If people want to make decks for me that's really cool and appreciated. If not, then that's me signing out for good.

Well, we're generally happy to help other players, but it's not exactly clear what you are asking for, and admittedly we're all a little surprised to hear you have complete sets of everything recent -- most of us are working on collecting just what we need from the new sets. I'd guess several people read as far as "have to see when the shipment comes in" and thought... "shipment? Wow!" You might be the only MTGV member to receive a shipment of new cards, but hey, that's cool -- welcome to MTG Vault!

I guess my first recommendation is to look up Jund and Vampires, probably through google "Jund decklist" and "Vampires decklist" and sleeve those decks up. They're tournament-competitive, and even if you end up not liking them, learning to play them will help you develop as a player.

Personally, I can't stand Jund -- it literally pains me to play it. Vampires doesn't interest me much, either, but then I haven't enjoyed Standard much since the days of Lorwyn and Morningtide (which I loved for their unique aesthetics, but disliked for Fairies' utter dominance). Feel free to check out my Jura Judo deck, which is a silly casual deck. (Clicking on people's screen-names will take you to a list of all their decks.)

Also, the MTG Vault home-page, on the right-hand side, lists the most recently posted decks. Many of them are Standard format (recent sets only), and with the new Eldrazi out, you'll probably find something that piques your interest.

As you explore, let us know which decks you like best! :)

Ugh, why do I even bother...

I've looked at the sideboard with the decks listed. But like I've said it usually contains cards from sets I don't have.

Yeah, I said shipment, because it shipped out on Friday. Takes a few days, you know, to get to where ever it's going.

Whatever, just forget it. I'll get my help elsewhere.

I've been here for a few months already... got nothing out of this site. Only had something interesting in the FF13 thread. Thanks Ian. :)

Sorry Gary, Ian... but this site has provide 0 help for me. Such a shame you're working hard on this site, but this community or lacktherof, would rather bitch and moan at each other. Can't even read an article without someone bashing on each other....

So whatever......

Even as whitey_mcfly's reply was short and sweet. That's all that was needed. So yeah, I'll make that deck....

Well, it's unfortunate that you weren't able to find what you needed here, and I wish you luck finding what you need. We are happy to help, if we understand what help is being requested.

I will note that feeling upset, just because not all of us responded exactly as whitey_mcfly did, is probably unwarranted. Granted, I did feel that loki3 was a bit harsh on you. But loki3 did share three deck designs, after being harsh -- and I shared one deck design, Jura Jund, which takes only a handful of cards from the Alara block.

It's confusing to me why you would have such difficulty obtaining the cards used to build many of the decks on this site (the standard decks I've reviewed usually cost less than $50 for everything), given that you have such an extensive collection (and, apparently, plenty more on the way). Do you not trade your cards, perhaps as a matter of principle?

Some clarification regarding what you are expecting from us and from the MTG Vault site, rather than blanket expressions of frustration, would be appreciated here. Direct appeals to the site's moderators can sometimes be sensible replies, but I think you've basically received a warm and friendly reception, with some accompanying advice on how to ensure you're even better received next time. If that advice is distasteful to you, I would only ask that you be considerate of our feelings as much as you ask us to be considerate of yours.

Stating almost immediately that you intend to leave, and appealing to the moderator, only indicates to us that you have not been interacting with us in good faith, which is disappointing. I, for one, attempted and am still attempting to be as welcoming to you as I personally know how to be.

Expecting us to be servile as well as welcoming is asking too much.

A little ridiculous of you in my opinion, but whatever. I agree though, its sad that all people do on this site is tend to bash each other. If you do not like what I write, do not read it - simple as that. I was given the opportunity for a reason beyond just asking to do it. People should realize that. Still, you writing this is just exactly what you said you disliked about this place.

reeeech,

I'm trying to help you -- to teach you. If I was subtle or quiet in the way I said what I did, you would probably never seen it/heard what I had to say.

And I gave you 3 examples of decks, and you still sluffed me off.

Even though you say that you clearly stated what you wanted us to build for you, you really didn't. There are millions of decks that can be made from the pool you suggested. I just wanted to let you know what you sounded like, and I wanted you to make up your mind about what you want.

I would ask you, do you want casual, competitive, or semi-competitive?

I could ask you if you want a theme or whatnot, but you don't seem to care; You just want us to give you something, and you want us to make the decisions for you.

My best suggestion for you, because you have every planeswalker, is a planeswalker control deck.

I don't know exactly what you have, But you can throw all your planeswalkers into a deck, use duals and/or color fixing (rampant growth, or growth spasm) and mass removal, Day of Judgement/Earthquake. And any good creatures that you own that are bomb rares or give advantage. And some spot removal, intimidation bolt/bolts/path to exile.

But I'd be glad to help you if you are interested.

I'd say the best way to go, if you have lots of planeswalkers, is RWG using Gideon, Ajani Vengeant, Elspeth, Garruk, Chandra Nalaar, and DoJ and Earthquake. Especially if your full sets also have manlands

[QUOTE]Here's my initial try (it's a rough sketch):

3x Ajani Vengeant
3x Chandra Nalar
3x Garruk
2x Elspeth
3x Gideon

4x Day of Judgement
4x Earthquake
4x Trace of Abundance
4x Growth Spasm
4x Naya Charm
2x Banefire

4x Raging Ravine
4x Stirring Wildwood

basics (mostly forests)

Arid Mesa if you have it
M10 duals if you have them

board:
3x Kor Firewalker
3x volcanic fallout
4x wall of omens/Lone Missionary
3x Oblivion Ring
2x Lightning Bolt[/QUOTE]

If you have Baneslayer, use her too.

Good Luck.

reeeech, I'm sorry to hear you're thinking of leaving us, especially after the effort you've put in contributing here on the forums. It's unfortunate that you haven't found what you're looking for! :(

I agree that the "bashing" behaviour of some of the members is unnecessary though I can't really see how to rectify this without wasting time moderating the forums when we could be coding. Maybe it's time to take on a moderator...

If you are indeed leaving, I wish you all the best and hope you'll come back and visit every now and then to say hey! ;)

Reeeeeeech Not sure if you'll even get this, as you've threatened to leave this site...

I too am new to this site and fairly new to MTG as well, and after reading your initial post was as miffed as the rest.

For me, a large part of the fun in MTG is getting creative, having fun. Choosing a favorite color, or type of card, and building a deck around it. (Do you like to burn your enemies? Or take control of their creatures? etc.) So when you preface your post with the simple request of building you a deck, it's laughable. On the left-hand side of the homepage there's a link for "Deck Search" where you can search by color, type, etc. Like I said I'm fairly new, but with the sets you want to use, a Tournament Ready deck search parameter will avoid all the older series and give you cards that you should have in your collection.

Check out the deck I just built out of M10-Zendikar block. I'm going to try it out in a qualifier tourney tomorrow! (I don't know how exactly to put the link to my deck on here )

Stick around though, this is the best MTG forum out there!
