Thievery precaution/nr cards in a booster
WARNING: long, really really long. i tend to yak a LOT, this however needs details
Short version: Well as the title suggests this is me wondering how many cards you get in a booster. because two of my cards, and my buddy's Sarkhan the mad was stolen.
I went to a tournament yesterday on Thursday. (19 April 2010 if you're picky)
Me and my buddy had...pooled our money together on a display (which we know contains 36 boosters thereby 18 to each of us) We then drafted Rise of The Eldrazi and (due to a mistake) counted our cards, all 7 of us got 41 cards + token/rule-cards and non-foiled lands.
I placed on :D2nd:D place and thereby won 2 Eldrazi boosters.
Now to the case, before the tournament started we showed the cards we had gotten in our display to the others to see what they meant and etc etc.
Notably, i had gotten a :)Kozilek, Butcher of Truth:) and an :DEmrakul, the Aeons Torn:D along with some other cool ones.
while my buddy got a notable :)Sarkhan The Mad:)
In on of the boosters i won i found another Kozilek, Butcher of Truth.
The point being that when we were done and started trading, we noticed my buddy's Sarkhan was gone. After a lot of annoyed searching, we figured we'd find it when we came home (typical everyday scenario right?) But the next day (today) i was making a deck with just cards from the Eldrazi set. I noticed that both my Kozilek and my Emrakul was gone:mad::mad:, yet i had one Kozilek (most likely the one i won)
We thereby figured that if we had ONLY lost those, it had to be GTM: Grand Theft Magic (i've always wanted so say that) and that the only way to prove it was to calculate how many cards and such we had gotten.
we suspect who the thief is, but we feel it is a little weak going up to him and saying: "we think you stole our card. why you? becuase your budget is just as bad as ours and the others have no reason of stealing the cards."
The annoying part is that we can't afford to simply buy new ones. And we can't just let him get away with it. and we thereby can't buy another booster to get the answer my question ourselves. (used most of our money on the display and draft.
also note: we've played for a total of 1 yr each. i've been on this site for... two days. and we're both 17 yr old norwegians. not that it matters but still. i yak.
Sorry for the long note, but i'd very much like to get an answer. to the basic quiestion: how many cards do you get in a booster.
appreciate if you'd please specify as much as possible, like how many commons + 1 rare + 1 land + 1 token + foil or something like that.

1- don't open that many boosters in a public place around a lot of ppl, stuff is bound to get lost in the shuffle.
2- never accuse someone of theft simply because they have the least money. rich ppl are just as likely to steal as the poor, the motivation simply differs.
3- if you know you had specific card X and you can't find that specific card, then it's gone(whether lost or stolen)...adding up cards from 30+ boosters won't matter.

1 we didn't open them there we had already opened them and we had 2 hours to dawdle with them. and approx 45 min to show and possibly trade with the others. basically we just killed time and discussed strategy.
2 we know all the others and we don't accuse him, we suspect him. i know we got a bit carried away, and perhaps we did get a bit too irritated than needed, but nevertheless we're still kidlike and are like that sometimes. can't help it sometimes, we try to repress it as much as we can.
3 we wanted to know just how many cards we had lost in total. besides, we've actually wondered about this question before. (the nr of cards in a booster that is)
4 we don't realle expect to catch the thief. we can only hope on guilt and such, because as annoyed as we are. we really like thew others there, and we don't like the idea of even accusing them. i don't actually think we would have accused any of them. but it felt like a good spontaneus idea, in retrorespect...not so good. luckily we haven't actually confronted anyone.
EDIT: 4

When doing that kind of stuff, you really need to trust the people you were with. I carry most of ALL 40 Dual Lands with me at all times, a Tabernacle, and ALL the Fetchlands on me nearly all the time... How can I? Because I Know the people I am with and trust them very well. I have never been stolen from, its a respect thing. I dunno honestly what to tell you, I opened a foil Sakhan... wanna buy it? lol Anyway, just be more cautious with your things. Deck Boxes, MTG Bags sold by UpperDeck, and other things are a great idea to have aswell as sleeves. Do whatever it takes to prevent your stuff from being stolen. Just keep your eyes open and use common sense.

A pack of Rise of the Eldrazi will contain the following cards in the following quantities:
10 Common*
3 Uncommon
1 Rare**
1 Basic Land
1 Tips + Tricks Card***
*One common is sometimes replaced by a Premium Foil card. This is true for approximately 1 out of every 6 packs. This premium card is reflective-shiny and can be any rarity (common, uncommon, or rare). For some sets, at least one foil rare is guaranteed to appear in a sealed booster box of that set. These foil rarity rules do not apply to older sets: sets released in 2006 or earlier abide by different rules.
**The rare is sometimes replaced by a Mythic Rare. This does not apply to sets before Shards of Alara, which did not have Mythic Rares. The relative rarity of Mythic Rares is subject to much question and dispute and consternation, but it's empirically true that a Mythic Rare should appear in approximately 1 out of every 8 packs.
***This is sometimes replaced by a token card. Tokens and tips-tricks are not playable cards (you can't put them in a deck) so the total number of cards in a pack is reported as 15.
