Planeswalker questions

:)Couple of planeswalker questions:),

#1. Planeswalkers abilities: can they be uses as instants at the end of your opponents turn or only sorceries during your turn?

#2. They can kick their big ability even if it means their loyalty is reduced to 0?

#3. can they be countered by spells like Essence Scatter are they a creature?

#4. Do they suffer from summoning sickness?

#5. If a spell like Living Death is cast, does it draw the planeswalker out of the graveyard as well? or anyother card that draws creatures out of the graveyard for that matter Gravedigger for example.

That's it

Thanks

1: nope, their abilities can only be played as sorceries, ie: only during your main phase when the stack is empty. (and remember, only one per turn)

2: you can use their ability if lowers their loyalty to zero, in which case they are sent to the graveyard. you cannot use their ability if the cost would bring them lower than zero though. ie: if they have 4 loyalty counters left you cannot activate a -5 ability but a -4 ability is fine.

3 and 5: they are not creatures, they are not affected by anything that targets or affects creatures.

4:they do not suffer from summoning sickness, you can use one of their abilities the turn they come into play.

Planeswalkers specifically are a "Permanent" at the moment.

Just a minor correction here that's become relevant since Gideon's been printed, planeswalkers do in fact get summoning sickness, but that only matters if they're turned into creatures and want to tap for something or attack the turn they're cast. Planeswalker abilities don't care about summoning sickness.

Example: I can cast Gideon Jura and activate one of his abilities right away, once per turn. I can even turn him into a creature with his third ability, but he won't be able to attack that first turn he was in play.

It was Gideon Jura that made me ask the question: You can't activate his third ability in response to an attack then and declare him as a defender then? Cause that would be activating it as an instant, right?
