I play because it's a challenge that I sincerely enjoy. And for a million other reasons that I don't want to type out.

I play magic for fun. Sure it can be frustrating from time to time, but there is so much fun to be had. Just the smell of new cards, the thrill of victory, the tension of battle, the clank of die as your life slowly goes down, even the realization of defeat have their own flavor and are an experience all their own. Each of those experiences gives its own form of fun. New cards arouses new thoughts and stratagem like fresh crisp strawberries. Thrill of victory tastes like a well deserved piece of chocolate, something you want to savor and swish around in your mouth till your tongue is coated with it. Even defeat, which is often a little bitter, is in itself its own experience.
Sorry trying to be poetic when tired isn't exactly the best idea.

Magic made me who I am today, a lot more social and a lot more personal with people. I use to not have many friends until I started playing Magic. It made get out there and meet people, building confidence in myself to be successful at something and helping me work up the courage to join the work force. Over all, Magic made me a better person and helped me meet people I knew had the same interests as me and not give a damn what people thought of me. Magic has a awesome and really detailed story ranging from Antiquites all the wall to Time Spiral block that involves the same characters while having great flavor and artwork to back it up. Magic is a ever changing and revolving game, things get played one day and the next day they are old news (of course 5 years down the line it may come back) and it continues to put out a consistent level of successful releases. What is there not to like about Magic?

I found the social aspect of magic to be pretty cool as well, not that I was unsocial otherwise...but I certainly met a lot of people through the game who i otherwise wouldn't have. This aspect was even more important considering the fact that most of the people i met tended to be a little older so i gained a bit of maturity that way.

I play because it's a nice hobby that never fails to keep me interested by always changing and offering something new, whether through new cards being released or by flipping through a binder at your local gaming store and finding a new way to use old cards.
