Opening Packs
Ok so a simple question but one that tells a lot about a person I think.
When cracking boosters, do you look through the pack from the commons to the rare card by card or skip straight to the rare at the back?

I always am careful NOT to look at the rare. I look at all the commons and uncommons, then look at the land/rules/token/foil cards, then lastly, the rare. Even then, I look to see what color it is before I look at the whole card, just to see if it's maybe the color I want.

Why do you do that though? Just curious.
P.S. : How do you put in a quote from another person's post or bring that post into your post?
Thanks! :)

You can wrap quote tags around the text you're quoting or simply click on the quote button at the bottom right of that person's post. :)
I go through each card when opening a booster; might as well build up the suspense, right?! ;)

I guess it's just the suspense of it. Unless you're a person who buys boxes upon boxes and case upon case, then it would get redundant. Then, if I did that, I would just skip to the Rare.
But for me, who buys a few packs here and there, I like to see what I get, one card at a time. It's just something I think I've done since I've played.
I think I even did it with football cards when the packs would have an insert card in the same place if they had one in a pack. I would just look at the other cards, while barely seeing the edge of the insert, then look at it.

It just seems to make it more fun to look at the cards slowly instead of just jumping to the back to see what the rare is. Besides most of the time when I'm buying packs I'm hoping for certain commons and uncommons as well.

Yeah, I like looking through the whole thing commen to rare, it just tells me what the content of the pack is and gives me time to read each one. I also is cool to have something satisfying at the end of something you know???

Thanks for the great insight, i never realized the fun of opening booster packs :p. I usually don't buy booster packs because I buy the cards separately for certain cards I need, but I do get them once in a while so. Thanks!

I always skip to the rare, I buy the cards I need when a set comes out so the rest is usually not important. Then again there are only 2 occasions when I open boosters:
1. when I buy a 36 booster booster box at the start of a new set and rip through the entire box. Ever since they started printing mithic cards the concentration of good cards in a box is so low I just stopped buying boxes. Last box I bought was zendikar because of the fetch land.
2. when drafting, in this case I start with the rare, then the uncommons, then the commons.

I sometimes do both. I picked skip to the rare because that's what I do with a couple packs, but then I realized I usually go through the whole pack first. The other day I traded a few cards which netted a total of 16 packs. In cases like THAT, I just go straight to the rare, but if it's just 3-5 at a time, I usually just go through them from the beginning.
