two elves or not to elves that is the question...
Hello all, So I have been playing with elves for a while now. It was my first deck my friend built for me to get me into MTG. The trouble for me is there are so many of them so many combos ideas they are amazing and yet overwhelming at the same time.
Lets look at some things first off.
We have:
Creature tokens: Can go up to infinite. Do we strive only for this?
Power: I have had games with a few elves attacking for 20+ each. Where do we draw the line?
Mana: What happens when I run out of things to cast?
Life gain: Is it really necessary?
Forestwalk: Unblockable has won me games. Is trample enough?
Any other fun combos?
Where do we take it from here?
Personally I usually play with a variety of elves and even with a small amount they get powerful, quickly. Good use of Rancor, Alpha status, Timberwatch elf, Wellwisher, Champion, Preist, Jogara, Hurricanes etc.
What do you prefer?

I suggest you take one or two of the aspects you've listed and build a deck around them. A hell lot of tokens is great, but WoG kills them all. 20/20 attackers are nice, but it takes only (1)(b) to doomblade them. It's a matter of figuring out what your opponent will not be able to counter so easily.
About Forestwalk: your oppo needs to have a forest for that to work, and 4/5 of all decks don't use forests ;)

I usually play a sort of Elf Warrior deck. It's really fun because not only do I have the capacity to get out plenty of tokens, but I also can easily get them up to 4/4 or more depending on how good my draws are. Throw in a Nath's Elite and suddenly its game over.

Is it too much to ask for all of the above? My deck runs flying, indestructibility, lifegain, tokens, buffers, and a crapton of tap manipulation.
