then again, you don't really need infinite mana when you can already deal infinite damage

Cool. Now another newb question. In what order to a cast these and how does one effect the other. I have read over each of the cards, minus the training grounds, and cant figure them out. I only ask in case my frens start to argue with me eheheheh

the Guildmage has to be in play and you need 6 mana:

1) Play Lava Spike, splicing Desperate Ritual onto the Lava Spike.
2) Use three mana (one of which needs to be red) to use the Izzet Guildmage's ability to copy a sorcery.
3) The copy is on the stack and you let it resolve. Now you have three more red mana.
4) Go to Step 2.

it does requires a really good understanding of stack mechanics to be able to use it effectively and deal with countermeasures.

with a Training Ground in play you only need to pay one red mana to use the Guildmage's copying ability, which means you get an extra 2 red mana after each copy resolves.
