Echo Mage + Counterspell

How would this work? Is it possible to have 3 instances of counterspell out at the same time? They resolve before being able to counter another spell right?

yes, but you have to name their targets when the copies go on the stack...

so they will fail if they no longer have a valid target by the time they each resolve
