Preventing Copycat Decks
Its not really a big deal to me, but i was kinda thinking would it be possible to prevent someone with the exact same decklist as someone with an already posted deck to be referenced to that deck instead of occupying space? About half the time i look at a deck on here i think "Cool.... But i think ive already seen the exact same deck before.
I know its a bad example but here is 4 decks that are exactly the same

Well i meant like a mesage popping up that would say
"The Deck you have tried submitting is already in the database, please make a few changes to the deck in order to prevent multiples of a deck being in the database. We are sorry for the inconvenience"
I wouldnt think it would be to critical to have the original deck to be changed after youve been told you cant make the deck. It may be just me, but i dont think it would be a big deal to me if i had to tweak a deck justt slightly so someone isnt like "You stole my idea" on your deck

as a user, I couldn't care less if someone else happens to have a deck that's identical to mine, I want to add MY deck to MY profile.
the database can handle it.

Like i said it really doesnt bother me... but a few of my friends actually stopped getting on because they said they never saw anything new on there, it felt like the same deck over and over again and it kinda worries me that people may be quitting the Vault just because of some silly problem like that

The problem is not so much with people copying decks, but with hyped cards and T2. Most Type 2 decks look alike because, lets face it, there's only so much power cards in a new set and eventually everyone realizes there is only one way to go. Another factor is Wizards deliberatly putting combo pieces in the same set so people would make a deck around certain cards.
As for non type 2 you always have cards like isochron scepter and Coat of Arms that are so hyped that every new player has to use them.
So you get a lot of decks that look alike.
Also, the examples you posted are pretty stupid, they are relentless rat decks which is a stupid card to begin with and it's only normal there are at least a few dozen decks that are identical.
I'm with Seras, I don't care what other people posted in the past. It's my deck and I don't want a popup saying it isn't.

Yes, the original idea for vault was to become a place where people could create their deck lists for future use and for sharing with their friends. if we stopped allowing people to create their decks because somebody else had already put the same deck in the database this would null and void this original intention.
At some point in the future it may be nice to allow you to customise the decks that appear in your own view/search, but as ever there are always these "nice-to-have" features. ;)
