Your favorite Cycle/set.
I was thinking the other day on which of the cycles was my favorite of all expansions with my friend. The conversation went on for so long that I thought why not ask it here? It's quite fun.
So: Pick three cycles or sets you love and why.
My own favorites are:
Ravnica: This cycle IS SO MUCH FUN! I love the House Dimir's and House Izzet's odd and unique gameplay. And then there's that twisted House Orzhov with fine lifestealing and gaining methods.
Kamigawa: These are so cool and awesome looking. I just hope they'll soon make more ninjas. And this one has a nice niche with Replicate / splice onto arcane.
Shadowmoor: Oona. Just Oona and the rogues. Faeries are so twisted within a great mill/discard/unblockable deck. Ninjas and rogues? Check!
There is much to say about these cycles but I have to be quick because otherwise I'll just type hours on end.

Darksteel: Moving counters around with Arcbound, watching people slowly turn to dread as they realise the implications of affinity, or indestructibility.
Alara Reborn: Cascade, all by itself, justifies this entire set for me. The feeling of of sheer power that comes with the ability to make an entire 8+ man multiplayer table dread your first cast of the turn... watching your enemies' defenses crumble before the unstoppable onslaught of spell after spell that you haven't even paid for, and knowing that as long as you're even casting spells to begin with you're coming out ahead...

Fallen Empires. Yes, nearly every single card in the set was terrible. But the set was flavorful! It had a strong feel to it, yet not one of a horribly-contrived story arc (looking at Tempest through Invasion blocks). There was something clearly going on beyond the surface of the gameplay, and though you didn't need to know it, you could figure out something was wrong in Sarpadia. Things were dire. Yet, since the exact details of the drama weren't provided, you could imagine for yourself what was going on; the conflict felt more sinister than anything Wizards' creative team has been able to hash out a story for. The art was also great, featuring great artists like Drew Tucker and Richard Kane-Ferguson.
It doesn't hurt FE's case that it was the new set when I began to play this game, too.

Lorwyn Block: Although I'm not much of a tribal/aggro player I did like this set a lot. I loved the artwork (some of Wayne Reynolds work there if I'm not mistaken. For a small time artist like myself that guys skill level is mind blowing), the new tribal card type and the possibilities it opened, the changelings, the tribal equipment, the powerlevel. Playing block in that set was so much fun, great for draft too.
Some of my all time favourite creatures are from Lorwyn block: Mulldrifter, Shriekmaw, Countryside Crusher, Mirror Entity, Reveillark, .... And if you count the dark side (shadowmoor) then we can add Kitchen Finks, Puppeteer Clique and the fearsome Woodfall Primus.
I still play Merfolk to this day and it all started with lorwyn block. They were good in block, they were ok in standard, they now rule legacy. It's the only tribal that I can play and enjoy myself with (not counting reveillark elementals which is always fun in a casual game).
