Normally, when you declare attackers, you tap your creatures. But, if a creature has Vigilance, you don`t tap it when you declare it as an attacker.

Vigilance lets you attack without having to worry about not having a blocker (tapped creatures cant block...) on the next turn.

When I first saw Zephyr Falcon, I thought it was too good. It seemed like you could drop it turn two, and attack them twenty times on turn three. Even Will-o-the-Wisp wouldn't save you!
But in reality, you only get one Combat Phase each turn, so there's only chance to attack with any individual creature in a single turn. If you want more attack phases, you need a card like Relentless Assault. If you want an arbitrarily numerous amount of them, you need Aggravated Assault + Nature's Will (or several other combos).
