Casting/countering/pyromancer ascension

Ok, basically I'm pondering this situation. If I have a fully charged pyromancer ascension and then I cast a sorcery spell that gets countered. So does a copy get created? Im doubting it, I am just don't know the technicalities of the term 'casting.'

The copy is still created and will go on the stack. If it's 'cast' that means you've managed to get the spell on the stack by paying all its costs and everything that you need to do to play it.
