Is this card legal.....?

Grindstone

WHAT?!!? lol.. Mono color decks beware? I just came across this and I think this is a little too powerful. Lands and artifacts do not count with this right? Still, that card used once would pretty much kill my black deck!

Grindstone isn't banned in any format (other than being too old for Extended or Standard). It's legit, and can be pretty powerful (especially when paired with Painter's Servant).

Lands and Artifacts are colorless (usually), so getting two lands or artifacts will break the milling chain (you can't ever choose colorless, because it's not a color at all).

Other highlights include skullclamp, sol ring, yawgmoth's will (aka yawgmoth's win), and the Power Nine. We hope you enjoy your stay in the Land of Broken Cards and look forward to the possibility of your developing significant enough neurosis and schadenfreude to join us as a permanent resident.

Time vault's just broken, esp if you've got a way to untap it.

Lets not forget Vault and Tezzeret, especially since you used Tezz to bring the vault to the table in the first place...

$6,000 is the price of a Mint Alpha Lotus, rated at a 10 on the card rating scale. If you wanted an Unlimited or Revised one, it would be significantly less.

Actually, Card Kingdom sells Black Lotus for $1999. Another site sells for the same amount but I forgot what it was.

We should all have an Internet Fight over which combo is more brokenly broken:

Painter's Servant + Grindstone

or

Sword of the Meek + Thopter Foundry

At first glance, Painter's Stone seems incomparably better. Yet Sword + Thopter is currently a more dominating combo for control-then-conquer category decks. And, in tournaments, neither has proven even comparable to this gem combo:

Natural Order + Progenitus

That's right, for a limited time, you too can turn a lowly Noble Hierarch into a 10/10 Protection From Everything for the low low cost of four mana.

That's a 2009 / early 2010 thing. Nowadays everyone's using Jace, the Mind Sculptor instead, mostly because Vintage games were often settled and over before it was possible to use Tezzeret, the Seeker's untap ability, and Jace apparently offers more immediate control.*

The funny thing is, the deck in question used to be called Bob Tez. Now that Tezzeret has been removed from most builds, people are calling it Tezless Bob Tez, which is about the least useful name for a deck, ever. :o

*I personally liked Tez better and am sad to see him go.

In case anyone's interested, the most expensive Magic card currently in existence is one which is not currently used in any competitive deck. It's not banned, either: it's simply not good enough to be used. Yet you could offer to trade one in exchange for one of my Power Nine playsets, and I would immediately and readily accept.

That card would be a graded-10 "Summer Magic" edition Hurricane, a.k.a. an Edgar Hurricane or a Summer Hurricane. I do not kid about this. See a picture here.

...I saw a graded-9 summer Hurricane offered for sale for $21,000 once, at a convention, next to an Unlimited Black Lotus for $200 (this was a long time ago -- somewhere in the late '90s). They are occasionally available at auctions, and you can get a near-mint ungraded copy for about $6000.
