Help with some cards

OK, I've got a couple of questions regarding some cards:

Red - Prodigal Pyromancer

The tap ability on this card does damage to target creature or player.

1. Is this unblockable damage if targetted at a player?
2. This card seems cheesy. I play vs a deck with 4 of these in it. If he draws one (or more) of these early on in the game, I get royally hosed before I have anything to respond with. He just picks off every 1/1 as soon as I summon it, or targets me if I don't have any creature cards up, or if I have a creature card that it can't kill. I find myself wanting to spend my doomblades to take out a 1/1 creature, which seems a waste.

Black - Quag Sickness

does -x/-x to target creature, where X is the number of swamps I control.

So I have 5 swamps and cast this on a 4/3 card, effectively making it -1/-2

1. Does this actually kill the creature, or just render it worthless?

Last, regarding the foil cards that come in the M11 Intro Packs (Black - Captivating Vampire for example) - Are these considered "named cards" - 1 to a deck, or could I have up to 4 like other cards.

1. No, if you have a prevent damage card the damage can be undone, and "using" a doom blade on a creature which kills you off every time doesn't seem like a bad plan :D...

1. Yes if a creatures toughness is 0 or less the creature is moved to the graveyard.

And as I understood a card is always a named card. But I think you mean legendary cards like planeswalkers etc..., they often have a card name looking like "bla, bla bla". I believe you can still have 4 copies of it in a deck just when a legendary card enters the battlefield all copies of that card need to be removed from the game (thus including the one you just cast)...

Basically, yes. Technically, no damage is blockable, only attacking creatures are blockable, and the Pyromancer, properly played, won't ever be attacking. Activating an ability is not "attacking."

Killing a threatening three-mana utility creature with a two-mana spell is hardly a waste. This is what creature removal is for.

It kills the creature. Creatures with 0 or less toughness are put into their owners' graveyards.

You can have up to 4 cards that share a particular name in your deck. The only exception is basic lands (and Relentless Rats), which have no upper limit.

If you play in the Vintage format, some cards are restricted to 1 per deck because they're so powerful (things like Tinker and Yawgmoth's Will). I don't think you'll have to worry about that anytime soon, though.

Holy crap... You are the only person I know that calls it a "Tim". I remember back in the day (probably around Urza block) there was a few Blue creatures that had that "pinging" ability that my play group would call "Tim". I thought that was limited to just us... lol... Small world.

we always said that it was cause the that one with the french looking dude in the pic (I forgot the name) looks like Tim the Enchanter from Monty Python. Is this the real reason? But then there was that one that was flying, and we would call it "Tim-on-a-Stick"... lol

The name indeed came from Monthy Python, Tim the Enchanter. Back then everyone called a Tim a Tim. Now in my group the name pops up occasionally but not often.
