indestructible vs.first strike

Okay say my 3/3 indestructible whatever it is, is blocked by a 4/3 first strike my creature takes lethal damage before it gets to deal any damage back.
My question is douse my creature continue its attack or is it stopped and can't deal any damage?:confused:

being indestructible means it'll still be around after the first strike phase to deal damage in the regular combat step
