Help understanding Ninjutsu

I'm a really big fan of the kamigawa series. Especially ninjas So i figured I would make a ninja deck, however I don't quite understand how ninjutsu works.

So I would declare my attacker for instance ornithopter. as ive seen it in the ninja decks on here. Blockers Do not block. I pay ninjutsu's cost and then it would change the unblocked attacker to my ninja?

yup. the ornithopter returns to your hand as part of the ninjutsu cost then it is replaced by a ninja w/ ninjutsu. the ninja is attacking so it deals the damage. take note that the opponent's declare blocker step is over so they can not block anymore the ninja
