MTG Vault Deck Challenges
Deck Challenge: Tournament Quality Infect
In the time before Magic exploded on the scene, there was Marsh Viper whose ability later became known as 'poisonous.' Decks based around this ability were among my favorite for the time. After a long hiatus, there was Shadowmoor with the ability I found to be the most obnoxious and therefore most fun to play, 'wither.' It was the damage that wasn't washed away at the end of each turn, the kind you had to actually do work to remove. And now, after a much too long wait, we've been given 'infect.' Damage to your creatures? Wither. Damage to you? Poison counters. It doesn't get much better.
I looking for a solid deck based around this ability that can also be flexible turn-by-turn (i.e. not solely combo-based.) Only requirements are:
-Must have a strong foundation with infect.
-Must contain Ichroclaw Myr (BAMF.)
-Hand of the Praetors would probably be essential.
-Would like to see Livewire Lash in it.
-Would also like to see a solid control foundation. (maybe unsummon, doom blade, naturalize, etc.)

Here is my infect deck. It consistently wins on turns 4-6. I have gotten quicker kills on a good draw against non control decks, but lies in the turn 5 and 6 win against control. This build has a little more resilience against control decks than most other infect decks. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=106189

This is my Infect deck.. Choosing to control the opponents creatures if such a creature would arise that you could not take care of then make your infect guys unblock-able, big, and infectious.

Yea but the disadvantage is that they know it is coming. If your creature gets through that 2 mana could be casting 2 giant growths from your hand and you would be striking for 7

Contains distortion strike which is incredible with infect, Birds of Paradise for a very quick start and lots of pump spells that can end games quickly and out of nowhere. Black is great for doom blade as well. Sideboard maybe needs some work. Infect lord seems a little too slow at 4 mana. This deck trys to win on turn 4 or before.

Easy. Use this deck every week at FNM. Mana ramp up the *butt*hole for a deck that has nothing costing more than 5. Get some good mana and I've had many 4th turn wins. Many. Need some ideas on how to improve though. maybe some better mana ramp cards. If I don't get a good first turn hand I'm screwed...
*Edit* Hand of the Praetors is to slow and Ichorclaw just isn't as useful as other cards. I'm going to post another deck that my friend uses that focuses on mana ramp and Gigantaform.
http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=107099
And my final deck that focuses on Putrefax, and a lot of him.

This is my take on an infect deck. I went a mono-black route using Semblance anvil to reduce the cost of your creatures. The objective is to continue drawing into creatures all while playing cheap Infectious creatures and using the Hand of the Praetors to just add poison counters without needing to always swing!
4x Semblance Anvil
4x Sign In Blood
4x Gatekeeper of Malakir
4x Ichorclaw Myr
2x Necropede
2x Corpse Cur
4x Hand of the Praetors
4x Moriok Replica
2x Skythryx, the Blight Dragon
4x Contagious Nim
3x Plague Stinger
4x Marsh Flats
4x Verdant Catacombs
15x Swamp

I'll post my list later - changing out the Cyst Bearers, but I've found untamed might or groundswell to be a gamewinner many times as well as spot removal when blocked.
Infiltration lens is a must, I think, as it makes the opponent choose to take poison or give two cards...

Here we are, yet another infect deck to look through and post comments on. Well can't say its great, since I have not built it yet. But I have played infect decks and one of the better ways to go about it is creature removal and instants that increase power. Especially in the early game. The point of infect is you shouldn't have to play a single Skithiryx! Beat them before then!

The problem with infect is that it is weak after the 5th turn or so... You should be able to kill your opponent within 3-4 turns. If not, then your kinda screwed depending on what they are playing... That's why this deck only has small creatures that blowup unexpectedly!...
Artifacts
4x Panic Spellbomb
2x Livewire Lash
3x Necropede
4x Ichorclaw Myr
Creatures
4x Plague Stinger
2x Blight Mamba
1x Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon
Land
14x Swamp
4x Marsh Flats
4x Verdant Catacombs
Spells
4x Grasp of Darkness
4x Vampire's Bite
4x Groundswell
2x Vines of Vastwood
4x Giant Growth

I would really like to add green to my blue black deck if only for putrefax and some boosts (giant growth unblocked can make the game close to ending) Suggestions? Also ways to make it more tournament quality? I like the idea of it, but I realize it's not that good yet. I realize Skythrix would be nice. I took out carnifex demon, should I put him back in?

this is what my U/B infect looks like, i use proto type portal with ichor claw myr to make one every turn none stop, if i get another one i use it on one of the myrs that produces mana to start the mana power eventually it starts paying off for itself.
