Global wipe situations
ok I was just in a battle, one of my creatures had protection from red and my opponent used a pyroclasm. Would that creature die? since it is a global burn?
also for another instant, my friend used Elspeth, Knight-Errant's ability to get the emblem for his army of soldiers and I used a wrath of god and/or a Day of Judgment would they live?

The main point is the fact that Pyroclasm/Day/Wrath don't target any creature specificly. Therefore protection won't protect against them. On the other hand, with indestructablility the creature can't be destroyed so they are therefore ineffective against someone with that emblem.
Hope that helps.

"protection" states that the card can't be blocked, targeted,....., damaged,.... by that color/card type. So Pyroclasm won't kill your Kor Firewalker.
Day of Judgment reads "destroy all creatures". Since these soldiers of your friends' can't be destroyed, they aren't. So tough luck for you. You better kill that Elspeth quickly.

I guess I should have read what Pyroclasm did before I answered your question. I assumed it was some sort of board wiper similar to Wrath of God. Sorry for the incorrect information.
