I will try and do this a succinctly as possible. First I am in no way bashing the new gatherer it has many good qualities. The advance search is excellent so is the card rating system and overall it is very visually pleasing. This is my problem with it: You have to restart the whole process to refine your search. The old gatherer had all your settings laid out on the top of the page. A typical search went like this:

You type: “deals 2 damage” and press search
Now you want only red cards so you select red and press search
Now you want the ones legal in standard so you select standard and press search

Viola you’re done. This is the same process with the new gatherer.

Type: “deals 2 damage” and press search
(You get 0 results because you didn’t check search in text.)
Go back to gatherer.wizards.com
Check search in text and type: “deals 2 damage” and press search
Now you want only the red cards so you go to gather.wizards.com
Select Red
You type: “deals 2 damage” and press search
Now you want the ones legal in standard so you go to gatherer.wizards.com
Select Red
Select Standard
You type: “deals 2 damage” and press search

Now I am not saying get rid of the new gatherer all I ask is that the older version be made available. Sites like Gmail allow users to view older versions all I ask is the same courtesy.

I have created an online petition requesting such a change. I am aware an online petition is an empty gesture and wizards of the coast will do what the want. However it is not with out precedent that online petitions have had influence, even if it was negative (e.g. Snakes on a Plane) here is the link:

Now there are many a naysayer who say nay. Often complaining the old gather crashed all the time, it didn’t have all the cards, no0b and Y iz u prettier then me Iz hatez you. The first two are IT problems not design flaws and as for the last I can’t help if god put me on this earth to bring the sexy back (to magic (even if it never was there).
