Liquidmetal coatng
I was wondering a creature affected by its ability, does it become an artifact creature, or an artifact? The same goes for lands, do they become artifact lands or just artifacts?

If they become artifacts, they are no longer creatures, does it means it unequips them?

Liquimetal Coating
let's look at what the card text says:
"{T}: Target permanent becomes an artifact in addition to its other types until end of turn.".

yea, its the other types part that get me confused. Example, does it become an elf-artifact and not a creature? or an artifact creature? Or does it just add another property, making it an artifact-creature-elf?

Yes. Just imagine throwing in "artifact" to left of the dash on the type line.
(and note that it can target more than creatures; it also lets you Shatter enchantments and Naturalize lands)

The Coating made me think of Isochron Scepter.
Smash to Smithereens, Artifact Mutation, Disempower (to keep them from drawing a Naturalize), ...

Isochron Scepter is the original gangsta when it comes it making copies of imprints. Well, okay, Soul Foundry is a contemporary, but the Scepter is just such a sweet card.
It's perfectly costed. It's cheap enough to be usable, but if it was just a little bit cheaper to either cast or activate, it'd be undercosted. A little more expensive, and it wouldn't really be tempting.
It's interesting. Instants of converted mana cost 2 or less is an interesting subset of cards to consider, and it alters the basic way those cards interact with the game, because as instants they were designed to be one-shots. It sparks the imagination.
It's powerful. You risk card disadvantage, since if it gets destroyed before you can use it you've lost two cards (and even if you use it once and then it's destroyed, you've lost two mana), but the advantage you stand to gain if it lasts is enormous, especially if you imprinted something sufficiently cool.
Prototype Portal is sort of the fourth in line. There's the Scepter for cheap instants, Soul Foundry for creatures (favorite: Gulf Squid), Panoptic Mirror for all instants and sorceries (best: Time Walk/Time Warp), and now Prototype Portal for artifacts.
Enchantments and lands are still waiting for theirs.
