token question

if i use bazaar trader to give my opponent Kazuul,Tyrant of the Cliffs
and then i play Gather Specimens will i get the tokens? my oppont says because i'm not the defending player it doesn't work,but wouldn't gather specimens overwrite this?

You will get the tokens.

That Kazuul's controller is the defending player means that the tokens will be generated to begin with. That condition is met, so token creatures will be entering the battlefield.

Gather Specimens just alters whose control under which those tokens enter. It is the whole point of Gather Specimens to replace that aspect of how creatures enter the battlefield.
