the problem with equipment is that it's dead without creatures. So the more equipment you run the less chance you have drawing creatures and the worst the deck becomes. Creatures like Stonehewer Giant and stoneforge mystic solve that weakness. Second to these tutors in creature form come tutors like Steelshaper's Gift and Enlightened Tutor that alow you to find the right equipment for the current board situation. They don't provide a body but still provide flexibility.

Personally I would run between 3 to 5 equipment cards in a deck and 4 stoneforge mystics to fetch them.
