infect/persist question

so yesterday I was playing with my brother, I had a 2/2 elf scout with persist on the field, and he had a 1/1 myr with infect that would become a 3/3 when blocked. I blocked his creature, but would my elf be able to come back using it's persist ability? Or would the infect ability make it so that I couldn't?(in terms of having a -1/-1 counter on her.)

Persist reanimates creatures only if they had no counters on them when they were sent to the graveyard. Since infect deals damage in the form of -1/-1 counters, your creature would not return to the battlefield as it died from having 0 toughness due to the -1/-1 counters.
