damage vs. loss of life

Lets say I have phyrexian unlife on the board and I cast ad nauseum. Now by ad nauseum I lose life equal to the cmc of whatever I put in my hand, but it doesn't say damage, so would I get poison counters or no (assuming I was already at low enough life to drop me down below 0 life).

Ad Nauseam would not cause you to gain poison counters.

things that explicitly state "lose life" do not trigger damage related effects.

damage does result in loss of life, but not all loss of life is damage.

So I can draw my whole deck and there is no down side with that combo and then do all sorts of nifty things? Good to know...

What if I gave Pulse Tracker infect and attacked? Would that be 2 poison counters, or 1 life and 1 poison counter?
