Ob Nixilis, the Fallen in EDH / Commander

2 short questions off of Ob.
When I play a land for Ob's Landfall ability is that General Damage, or just loss of life. If I give Ob Nixilus infect then play a land, do they take 3 poison counters or lose 3 life?

Lose 3 life, losing life is not the same as damage, and infect only affects damage.

I should also add that the "general damage" rule only applies to combat damage inflicted by a general. Even if Ob's ability did inflict damage, it still wouldn't count.
